Dial H for Hitchcock by Susan Kandel (http://www.amazon.com/Dial-Hitchcock-Cece-Caruso-M... -- this is the 5th book in the CeCe Caruso series. All her books are fun, quick reads filled with trivia about various mystery greats.
Bad Kitty by Michele Jaffe (http://www.amazon.com/Bad-Kitty-Michele-Jaffe/dp/B... this is the first book in a series about a teen with forensic interests. Jaffe writes with a witty, interesting style.

I haven't read it myself, but I've heard outstanding reviews for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime by Mark Haddon. It's not a series, just a novel.
