Cameroon - explored by Portuguese in 15th century, then Dutch took control in 17th century. In 1884 Germans took control. In World War I joint French-British action forced Germans out, and after the war the region was divided into French and British administrative zones. After World War II the two areas became United Nations trusteeships. In 1960 the French trust territory became an independent republic. In1961 the southern part of the British trust territory voted for union with Cameroon, and the northern part voted for union with Nigeria.

Largest section - England had vast parts of East Africa and some of West Africa

Some reasons for colonizing: raw materials such as precious stones, lumber, slave trade

Effects of colonialism - people were poorly treated, without much education, hospitals, or very much infrastructure such as roads and railways built, people had no say in their own government. Positive effects: citizens of former colonial nations often learn a western language - English, French or Portuguese, which enables them to communicate with the rest of the world in commerce.

Never colonized - I have no idea, and the countries I looked up all belonged to France, Portugal, or

    England at some point.

One reason Europeans colonized Africa was it was a good source of raw materials and resources.

Some negative effects of colonization were native people were often treated poorly, and today there is still lots of violence because European countries set up borders without paying attention to which ethnic groups lived in which areas. The country divisions sometimes divided ethnic groups and put warring/unfriendly groups together in the same country.
