advice worth passing on?

I think the best etiquette advice I've ever gotten was from Miss Manners' theories on social interaction, especially that good manners is the only way to civil freedom. (it enables us to exercise our freedoms without trampling those of others, hence ensuring that, if we all follow the basic tenets of good etiquette and courtesy, we're all able to live our lives without wanting to throttle each other.)

The best advice I ever got was to be myself. I know it doesn't really sound like advice but I was always very shy and just to myself because I wasn't comfortable in my own skin. Once you get to know me I am funny and dorky and just myself but it takes awhile. One day my friend told me that I am passing up some awesome relationships that I could be having because of me being so self consious. When she told me that I realized if someone doesn't like me for who I am then they aren't meant to be in my life. I want people around me who don't mind me being a dorky or being just myself. Thats the best advice and it will stick with me forever!

A house is not a home unless its lived in. Meaning some parents don't let noone sit on their sofa because they paid to much and don't want anyone to play in the home of valuables or for .someone to dirty it.

Never fart in a crowded elevator !!

Never flick your booger across the dining room table .......... it could land in Grampa`s soup !!

When farting in a restaurant , always start slowly , in case it`s a "wet one" !!

Change your shorts at least twice a year ........ in case you`re in an accident !!

Don`t mix sleeping pills and laxatives !!

Something I will always remember is:

"The reason a dog has so many friends is that he wags his tail and not his tongue". Meaning many people don't think before they speak and lose friends. Dogs wag there tails and are happy without talking.

"Don’t worry about knowing people, just make yourself worth knowing"...This is so true
