I belive that both divisions of matches are good, and I do agree with your point that some of the best matches in the WWE are traditional matches, such as:

Undertaker vs Randy Orton wm 21

Shawn Michaels vs Chris jericho wm XIX

Batista vs Undertaker wm 23

Stone Cold vs Shawn Michaels wm XIV

and one of my favourite matches of all time....Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25!!!!!!!

But also there are a lot of really good non traditional matches such as:

Edge vs Mick Foley, hardcore match, wm21

Triple H vs Shawn Michaels, 3 stages of hell, armageddon 2002

Stone Cold vs The Rock at wm's XV, X7, and XIX

and tied with Shawn Michaels vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania 25, another one of my favourite matches of all time

....Triple H vs Undertaker at Wrestlemania X7!!!!!!!

(this was actually a normal match, but the ref got knocked out, so nearly the entire time weapons were used)

so in the end its really a thing of personal choice, some wwe fans like the modern hardcore matches, while other fans like the traditional matches.

I have always loved the Hell in a Cell Matches and as for Traditional Matches - Ladder Matches are are great too.
