  • Interesting things about Eddie Guerrero's death that I didn't know til now?

Over the last few days, I've re-watched my Eddie Guerrero DVD and some of his stuff on youtube. I've always been a fan of Eddie Guerrero and he is the reason I became a fan. Now, I know its been about six years since that day, but I was like 13 at the time of his death. It really got me. He is, to me, the one wrestler, fans cannot simply hate. Talented, funny, charismatic, he had it all. But back to the point.

Over these last view days, I watched the tribute show, where the wrestlers gave a speech about Eddie, and, just wow. Three things really came up that I never really thought about before.

John Cena. In his speech for Eddie, he said that his way in the ring was because of Eddie. Not talent, but heart. He said Eddie was the thing that made him that man he is today. Then I flashed back to the night Cena's road to wrestlemania began. John Cena vs Kurt Angle for the #1 contender shot for JBL's title. Before his match in a backstage segment, Eddie gave Cena a pep talk, that I really enjoyed. And the amazing thing was, he kept talking about how, when Kurt puts him in an ankle lock, he believed that John Cena would not tap. And that this was the moment that every wrestler dream of, to main event at WM, and despite the odds, he believed in Cena. And to my memory, after that, John Cena hasn't tapped. In fact, it was 2005, that super cena was born and he never gave up. So the first question is:

#1. Does this change your view on John Cena, knowing that Eddie Guerrero is partially responsible for Cena's gimmick of never quitting or giving up? Guerrero is a huge influence on the way Cena acts today?

The second one was Batista. I just found how it was interesting that he was frustrated with the WWE, but it was Eddie that kept him there. It was like, if Eddie was still around today, even though its PG, Batista might had stayed. And the McMahon would say something like, Eddie, no matter what, could had made any wrestling fan keep watching.

The third one was the most shocking to me. Chris Beniot. He literally broke down in tears during that interview. But the thing he said was, "Eddie was always the guy I went to when I had troubles, I'd call him and he would always talk me out of it." That sent chills up my spine. Its like, if Eddie was still alive, he could had stopped it from happening. The Beniot incident happened about a year later. I will always remember Beniot as the wrestler that he was, but with brain damage, and drugs, and then losing the friend you always went to, I felt kind of bad for the guy. Now murder is wrong, but there is some pity for Beniot and what he was going through. So the other question is:

#2. Now knowing the Beniot lost the friend that he went to for problems, does this affect the way you see Beniot now? I'm not saying support the murderer, in fact, don't support murder, but maybe just have a better understanding of what he dealt with?

And finally, I saw this shoot interview by Kurt Angle on youtube, talking about a fist fight they got in back in 2004. JBL was champ and Guerrero and Angle was feuding on tv. But he talked about this one match, a lumberjack match on smackdown, where apparently, Eddie was very sick. Some days, he was lively, some other days, practically dead. So during this match, it was an off day, and to me, at first, it looked like a good match, but base on how Angle said it, it seemed like Guerrero was really struggling, and you can see that. And Eddie, apparently hid this sickness from everyone, but days, you would see him pale and can tell he is out of it. Ideally, not enough blood was being pumped into his heart. So this would mean that Eddie's sickness took its toll not that long after his WWE title win. I mean, 2004 and then dying in 2005, and according to Kurt, he wasn't delivering great matches, which to me, they were all great. But just wow. I'm just imagining the struggle he faced while giving us those great matches. The one I remember the most from the time was his feud with Rey Mysterio, and those matches were pretty intense.

But yeah, 6 years and I still miss Eddie Guerrero. Call me a sap or whatever, but man, its amazing what you can learn about the guy. I was 13 so chances are, I wasn't listening that well or using the internet, but my respect for Eddie Guerrero grew. Forget the wrestler for a second, but the influence backstage. He was indeed a great man. These last few months, I've lost some interest in wrestling, but seeing CM Punk did that the other day, just had me remembering Eddie.

But yeah, answer the questions, watch the videos on youtube. And if you don't feel comfortable about talking about Eddie's death or the Beniot thing, just answer the BQ below.

BQ: Your favorite Eddie Guerrero memory? Match, moments, stories. etc.

  • Is this not a great article for when you have to defend pro-wrestling from haters?

    http://bleacherreport.com/articles/391677-pretend-...

Let me just say. This is a great site to learn about opinions and great insight on pro-wrestling.

If for some odd reason, you can't see the link, its an article about how would one reply to a friend that says, "you watch wrestling?" and "you know its fake, right?" I simply found the replies amazing and even learned a new word for wrestling. Metafiction. Its also describe the top reasons why trolls attack pro-wrestling. (They lack self-esteem so by attacking pro-wrestling, it makes them feel superior). Its sad, but I still can't believe many would answer a troll's questions more then a wrestling question. Stop it. Even if its for 2 points and a chance for you to insult them, the more attention you give, the more likely you are boosting his ego, which is what they want. You want to make them feel good about themselves? No? Stop answering their questions.

But the question is, what are your thoughts about the article, and were you ever in a situation when you had to defend your love for pro-wrestling? Did you win, or did your friend get the best of you? What do you normally do when someone belittles pro-wrestling?

WQ: Would you prefer wrestling if you thought it was fake or if it was real?

WQ: Was there ever a moment in wrestling where you were glad it was actually scripted? I mean like shocking storylines or controversial. From any era and company of course.

WQ: Name one example, any example of a moment in wrestling where you might try to prove that wrestling was real. Doesn't have to be a moment. It can be a company. I'm not trying to insult wrestling at all. At most, I think its hard to "pretend" getting speared through a burning table and getting burned (Mick Foley vs Edge, Wrestlemania 22). So something like that.

  • Smackdown Fans, Do you feel screwed now that.......?

TNA has moved to Thursday and that the whole point in ruining Smackdown in the draft is kinda pointless now?

I mean, lets be honest, Smackdown did get screwed in the draft by losing its main eventers, but, we were okay cause it was for the sake of Raw competing with TNA. But now that TNA has annouced that its moving, thus ending the Monday night war, What is the point now? Monday Night Football? Wrestling fans, lets be honest, not matter what, football will always win in ratings. So, do you guys feel like Smackdown just plain got screwed for nothing now? Raw keeps all the top superstars and there is no other form of competition on Monday now.

Yes, Smackdown still has CM Punk, Rey, Undertaker, Big Show, Swagger, and Christian, but still.... I think Jericho should had stayed on Smackdown (personal opinion).

WQ: Raw or Smackdown, and why?

WQ2: Are you happy that TNA is moving to Thursday again?

WQ3: At over the limit, what stipulation do you want to see in the match between Batista and Cena? Do you think Sheamus will be added in the match?

  • "Time To Shine" Theme perfectly suits The Extreme Rules PPV? A couple of WQ questions?

I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get ripped on for this question, but what ever, but I felt this theme was perfect for the PPV. Let me just say, I am a huge wrestling fan and I love the rock genre. So whenever WWE chooses a theme song for a PPV, I get so intrigue.

So my theory is that the song by Saliva (my favorite band) "Time to Shine" from the Moving Forward in Reverse album was perfect for the PPV. Sure, it wasn't "extreme" like Bodies by drowning pool, but if you look at the lyrics, it suits the PPV. Although the PPV was not "hardcore" the truth is, it was the night of younger stars. Hart Dynasty won the #1 contendership for the tag titles. Joey Mercury debuts as a part of SES. JTG and Shad showed two very talented singles competititors. Swagger actually beat Orton and Sheamus just got the biggest push (not the title win) of his career. The guy that took out HHH. So if you look past the entire, "there was nothing extreme about it," argument, "you can see that WWE is really focusing on pushing its young stars now, which is the point of the song, "Time to Shine."

The reason I bring this up is because most of the time, the themes don't suit the PPV at all and I think its stupid, and its cool to see coincidence like that happen. What are your thoughts on the Extreme Rules PPV, and was there a song that WWE used that you felt suited the PPV perfectly?

And so no one bites my head off, some wrestling questions.

WQ: Were you disappointed that CM Punk didn't get shaved?

WQ: Did you feel that Jericho's springboard Codebreaker should had just ended the match?

WQ: Are you glad to hear that Batista will stick around for a few more weeks so his career doesn't end with duct tape?

and for you TNA fans, Do you actually like how RVD is being used? In my theory, he is becoming the new Cena of TNA. He has been having multiple matches in less then a week and has won them all (superman), has been taking up a lot of air time from younger stars (Cena hogging the spotlight), has flat out said that he refuses to put over young stars (something Cena is okay with), and is being rewarded for simply being there and signing the contract (atleast Cena works his *** off). No offense, but I personally feel that TNA should had paced it, but instead, they rushed it, and chances are, wrestlers backstage will start hating on RVD, and so would fans cause he is like Cena now (yes, he is more talented, but still). Your thoughts?

And check out the song. Its pretty awesome. Just saying.

  • What if question about wrestlers?

What if certain wrestlers didn't go by their new name? For example, would Shawn Michaels be just as famous if he went by his real name, Michael Shawn Hickenbottom. So THE SHOWSTOPPER, THE ICON, THE MAIN EVENT, THE HEART BREAK KID: HICKENBOTTOM!!! You get the idea. So I guess the big question is, would these wrestlers still be famous if they went by their real names. And if yes. Would their career be different?

    Here are some Examples:

    HBK: Michael Shawn Hickenbottom.

Jericho: Chris Irvine (would jericholics still exist)

Hulk Hogan = Terry Bollea (No Hulk-a-mania)

    Kane= Glen Jacobs

Rey Mysterio Jr. = Oscar Gutierrez (changed his name after the original Rey Mysterio)

Randy Orton = Randal (could be a big deal)

    HHH= Paul Michael Levesque (PML?)

    Christian: Jason Reso

    Edge: Adam Copeland

Just to name a few. If you know more guys that had totally different names then their gimmick in wrestling, feel free to add, but try to answer the question first. Personal thoughts?

  • TIME says WWF to WWE is a horrible name change?

    This article should say everything.

    http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/wrestling/story/...

If you can't check it, it pretty much says the Time Magizine put WWF> WWE on the bad list for worst name change. And that article takes it even further, saying that the general company (ted turner owns) behind that magazine is bias because they seem to hate WWE. CNN twisted Cena's words on steroids. Warner Studios(currently the CW network) canceled Smackdown after 2 years, then went to MyNetwork to beat CW in ratings.

Then Sci-fi to scyfy(who features ECW) is also on the list.

And so is TNA and SpikeTV.

    Your thoughts?

And for the sake of people telling me, this is a stupid wrestling question, I will add a few more.

WQ: What is your favorite weapon to see under a wrestling ring?

WQ: Which type of finishers do you prefer. Quick and non-flashy (like a spear or a superkick) or a long and cool one (like the last ride or rude awakening)? I personally prefer quick so the match is for fast pace.

    and

Do you think HBK would still be famous if he went by his real name, rather then Shawn Michaels? I'm not saying he isn't great or that name doesnt matter, but would it be different if you heard, Michael Shawn Hickenbottom, the Heart Break Kid. Mr Wrestlemania. The Icon. The Showstoppa. HICKENBOTTOM!!! This is for other wrestlers as well Like Chris jericho(irvine). How would irvine be used for Jericholics? And can you think of someone that might not be as great if they went by their real name? There isn't that many.

  • What do you think about this Y2J statement?

Chris Jericho told, no advised Beth Phoenix not to go after Drew McIntrye's Intercontiential Title. His words were, "absolutely not. It'll kill your career like it did Chynas...."

Isn't that weird cause in a way, that was the worst part of Jericho's career, going after Chyna's title. Well, your thoughts? Should Beth Phoenix listen to Jericho, or should she go for the title like Chyna? Is Jericho right, or do you think he is being a jerk?

BQ: What do you think about Fozzy's new album, Chasing the Grail? You don't have to answer this, and for those he don't know, Fozzy is the name of the band Jericho is in. I believe this is the best album yet.

  • Ever had a "OMG, I'm glad that is scripted" moment on WWE or TNA?

Just to let you guys know, i acknowledge that wrestling is scripted. It is neither real nor fake. But Sometimes, when I see the show, they tend to take it so far, that I'm kinda glad that it isn't for real. My example is the feud between the late great Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio. It was the "I'm your Papi" storyline. I felt really bad for the kid, cause I would be scarred for life because of that truth. So I was relief when Eddie wasn't really his "father" and that he was going along with it.

So, I guess my question is, did you ever had a moment, in the storyline, not the wrestling, where you were glad that it was scripted? It could be from anytime time period and any promotion like ECW, TNA, WWF..etc. Even matches, where it seems really, really brutal.

  • Wrestling Section:Traditional Matches or Modern Hardcore Violence?

I bring this up because in a lot of these questions in the wrestling sites, they ask which type of match would you want them to be in. They always say Hell in a Cell, No hold bars, street fight, or Inferno matches. I don't really understand why though. I mean, I prefer the traditional wrestling matches. Regular matches, Iron man matches, and submission matches, and ladder matches (I BELIEVE THIS AS A TRADITIONAL MATCH). So is it really important to see matches with these brutal gimmick matches over these classics? I mean most great matches are usually traditional and I feel stuff like Caskets, or Buried Alive kinda out shine the wrestling that should occur in the ring.

    Just a personal thought.

I would like to hear other opinions. If you can, try to give both side (traditional and gimmick matches) an explanation. Which one do you prefer and why?

  • What do you guys think about this Royal Rumble Ending? HHH and HBK both winning?!?

This isn't my idea, but it was an idea that was brought up by WWE writers but they decided to cancel it. Last two competitors at the Rumble. HHH and HBK. Both guys get eliminated at the same time, therefore, they both win and get to pick a match with Sheamus and Undertaker respectiviely at Wrestlemania. Don't worry. They canceled this idea for a new one. Just asking for opinions and thought.

I honestly think its a bad idea because it kinda kills the idea of the other Rumbles where this happened. Remember the Rumble Batista won? John Cena and Batista both got eliminated but they restarted the match. If they accept these two victories, wouldn't it be cheap?

    Agree or Disagree?
