TIME says WWF to WWE is a horrible name change?

This article should say everything.

http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/wrestling/story/...

If you can't check it, it pretty much says the Time Magizine put WWF> WWE on the bad list for worst name change. And that article takes it even further, saying that the general company (ted turner owns) behind that magazine is bias because they seem to hate WWE. CNN twisted Cena's words on steroids. Warner Studios(currently the CW network) canceled Smackdown after 2 years, then went to MyNetwork to beat CW in ratings.

Then Sci-fi to scyfy(who features ECW) is also on the list.

And so is TNA and SpikeTV.

Your thoughts?

And for the sake of people telling me, this is a stupid wrestling question, I will add a few more.

WQ: What is your favorite weapon to see under a wrestling ring?

WQ: Which type of finishers do you prefer. Quick and non-flashy (like a spear or a superkick) or a long and cool one (like the last ride or rude awakening)? I personally prefer quick so the match is for fast pace.

and

Do you think HBK would still be famous if he went by his real name, rather then Shawn Michaels? I'm not saying he isn't great or that name doesnt matter, but would it be different if you heard, Michael Shawn Hickenbottom, the Heart Break Kid. Mr Wrestlemania. The Icon. The Showstoppa. HICKENBOTTOM!!! This is for other wrestlers as well Like Chris jericho(irvine). How would irvine be used for Jericholics? And can you think of someone that might not be as great if they went by their real name? There isn't that many.

Update:

Just adding more names.

Hulk Hogan = Terry Bollea

Kane= Glen Jacobs

Rey Mysterio Jr. = Oscar Gutierrez

Randy Orton = Randal (could be a big deal)

HHH= Paul Michael Levesque (PML?)

wow thats very interesting. i personally like WWF a lot better. i mean you could say it in its entirety and it flows nicely compare to WWE. like, the following contest is for the world wrestling federation championship as opposed to for the world wrestling entertainment championship. thats why they always say WWE championship when they always used to use world wrestling federation championship.

but the points they bring up are interesting and i didnt know that, i agree the change was worse but it wasnt like going to wrestling entertainment world (WEW) or something stupid like that, i mean WWE isnt that bad and they were forced to change their name because of the world wildlife foundation

    BQ. Ladder

BQ2 quick like sweet chin music, when its out of no where its more exciting and devastating

i think he would have had the same success but he probably would have been made fun of backstage as well as in promos. back in his prime he might have started a fight if someone made fun of him about it.

i dont think jerichos irvine is as bad as hickenbottom but i dont think it would have changed anything either

The main thing I don't like about the name change is that it used to be WWF world wrestling Federation, now its wWE World wrestling entertainment so as the name says WWF had more wrestling now that I think about it quite a bit of the time WWF was more entertaining too.

WQ: something funny like a car door or a hot dog stand or maybe a match to set something on fire. I liked how Christian and Tommy dreamer got the car door and the hot dog stand

WQ: yes it could affect some superstars carrers in a bad way

Ok, here's my take on it: Because of the fact that fans have experienced so many highs in pro wrestling through the years (particularly in the 1990's when wrestling was at it's peak), it's almost as if they permanently set the bar high to a certain level of expectation. There are a few ways you can view this. 1. You can't really blame them b/c being that wrestling was so awesome at one point, who wants to see a watered down product? It makes you analyze what was going on back in the day, then look at what you have now, and you feel like your getting jipped more or less. 2. Everything in life, no matter what it is has it's high and low points. Use rap music for example. I think it was at it's peak in the 1990's as well. 2 pac, Nas, Biggie Smalls, Jay-Z, Wu Tang, Big Pun, Big L, Snoop, Eminem, Mobb Deep. These are just a few rappers that came out of that decade and are some of the best ever. Fast forward to today and we have people like Lil Wayne and Soulja Boy....WTF happened ? is my thoughts on the current state of hip hop. IMO Nas, Jay-Z and Eminem are the one's keeping rap alive. But back to the point b/c I got off track a little lol. Like I said, everything has it's high and low points, the 1990's were the best period ever for wrestling. Do people really think it can be topped? My choice in opinion is a mix of 1 and 2 of course. I agree w/t rassling fundemental, it's called a PPV for a reason (even though alot of ppl don't even pay), there's nothing wrong w/t at least wanting to see ONE 5 star match. HOWEVER, for people to expect 5 star shows all the time is rediculous. Again, I know the bar was set in the 90s, but it was set to high. Fan's need to realize that it isn't the 90's anymore, get w/t the time and lower the bar at least a little bit. Also, I agree. If the rock wanted to come back, he would have done it years ago. People need to stop hoping for the rock and stonecold to come back, b/c it's just not gonna happen. They made it clear they want to move on, so fans need to move on as well. Notice they played "stonecold"'s music when CM Punk cut that promo right? And how CM Punk kept referencing the rock, making smarks THINK the rock was about to return? IMO I think they did it to take a stab at the IWC who always complain they want Austin and Rock back, toying w/t their emotions more or less. Its very apparant that the WWE does not like the IWC that much. Micheal Cole I think is saying stuff that Vince McMahon really feels. As far as the 900th episode goes, Even I think WWE could have done better. I mean, if it's such a monumental feat, shouldn't the show have been epic? WWE did that to themselves, hyping it up hardcore I think.

I think it's sour grapes for Turner. It's a good point you brought up.

WQ 1 Triple H's sledge hammer

WQ 2 I personally like a fast pace match and like the super-kick and spear but if someone has really been a jerk during the match I like to see them get a good old fashioned finishing move with them knowing that they are going to get it.

    HICKENBOTTOM really????

Well, McMahon didn't purposely choose to change that name. His company lost a lawsuit against the World Wildlife Fund. That's why he had no choice but to change the name of his company. I'm pretty sure he would have much rather kept the old name.

The WWF hippies. The wones who care about the rain forrests and stuff were crying over WWF having the name as well and they got sic of it and changed it

Doesn't really bother me, WWF or WWE.

WQ : Steel Chair or Kendo Stick were always good to see come out.

WQ2 : The quick non- flashy one were the good ones for me to see.

  • The world wrestling federation... wasn't big enough for the logo WWF or WWF...

wq: i love seeing the ladder

WWF was better, but WWE isn't bad either.

But yeah, Sci-Fi to SyFy is freaking horrible.
