Question for LDS only (others need not apply ;)?

LDS - quick question, when attending a ward not our own because a family member is being sustained in a calling. (son being called into the Elders Quorum) Do we sustain with the congregation? Or not? Hope you can answer soon - we are going to son's ward in about an hour. Thanks!!!! :)

Update:

@Lehi - but I do all that, (gain enlightenment from scientific texts, eat tasty food, enjoy my loved ones - and often DO have sex multiple times with my spouse and STILL find time to go to Church. In my life, I have it all! ;)

@truth seeker - the very reason why I addressed my question to those who are LDS. Others wouldn't understand the question. Thank you for proving my point.

@ God's ** - of course I "don't decide who answers" I just wouldn't expect a competent answer from anyone else. Thank you for proving my point. :)

@ Alan Alda fan - dear, a life is a good thing to have. I highly recommend you get one. :)

Thank you to the others who gave me a prompt response. :) Have a wonderful day. :)

Update 2:

@ caveman - YA is usually good for a laugh. Glad you found one here. :) Have a wonderful week.

No, you would not 'sustain' in this situation. One only votes to sustain within one's assigned ward or branch.

I had a teacher who was of the opinion that if you do decide to sustain something in a different ward or branch, you are sustaining the fact that it was revelation that guided the process.

It is also a good sign of support for the individual being sustained. I'm sure there's got to be some people out there that might freak out if somebody in their ward didn't sustain them.

Just something to think about, for considering raising your hand.

I realize that you've already been to your meeting by now and, also, you have been given a correct answer by fellow LDS above, but I just have to thank you for your edited follow-up comments. I thank you for your questions, because the non-LDS respondents (along with your response to them) gave me a good laugh. I needed it. Three thumbs up.

You only have a voice to sustain our oppose in your own unit - ward and stake.

As far as I can remember you don't sustain unless you're a member of that ward. But if they're talking about the stake presidency and you're in a different ward but same stake, then you can sustain them.

Don't go to any ward. Spend your Sundays gaining enlightenment from scientific texts, eating tasty food, and enjoying your loved ones. In fact, having sex multiple times with your significant other is a great way to spend your time on Sunday.
