I have Windows 7 and my Windows DVD Maker won't burn DVDs?!?!?

I decided to get some use out of my new computer's DVD burner, and thought I'd put some of my videos onto a DVD using Windows DVD Maker. I've tried this I don't know how many times today and yesterday, and it STILL won't work!!! Now, I've checked all of the files, which are WMV, and they do open and play correctly with WMP. I've also previewed the DVD before clicking to burn, and it seems to work fine. I've tried all speeds (fast, medium, and slow) and I still get the same result regardless. At first, progress moves slowly, and then at about 6% it jumps to 98.9% and an error pops up saying that it can't burn the DVD because an error occurred. I have also tried deselecting the avi compressor, and starting a clean boot of windows to make sure no 3rd-party programs were interfering, and still no luck. I have wasted probably 7 or 8 DVDs, hoping to find the problem, but I haven't been able to. Please help me, and thanks!

Update:

My videos that I tried burning to the DVD aren't copyrighted/protected, so it can't be that.

Update 2:

And my videos aren't from movies or anything like that. I didn't copy any movies or anything.

Standard DVD players read the .Vob format, the files you have now are in AVI format..

I would recommend you download ConvertXtoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, it works just great.

It will automatically convert to DVD format, readable by all standard dvd players, it will then burn automatically to DVD...

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

    1. Download ConvertXtoDVD here:

    http://convertxtodvd.burner-software.com/

It can convert any video file.. like wmv, mpeg, asf, mp4, avi to dvd

    2. Add or drag-n-drop as many video files as the DVD can handle

    3. Insert blank DVD

    4. Click "Convert"

    5. Enjoy watching those video files on your home DVD player! =)

What kind s of videos are you trying to burn? If films or movies, they are probably protected. Most films can't be copied to DVDs because they are copy protected by the Film company. Try using a protection remover software. Try this link. http://www.soft29.com/how-to/copy-protected-dvd-co... and

Welcome to the wonderful world of DIGITAL RIGHTS MANAGEMENT. You are not being allowed to make copies of movies, even though under the Copyright Act, you can make a legitimate, legal copy for backup purposes. All the courts have sided with the recording industry even though these decisions violate your federal rights to make a backup copy. It's a big bag of worms - the courts are against you, the industry is also and all you could do is sue them and loose.

i had this same problem, and what seemed to fix it was the display size...or something like that. have you tried changing the resolution? I was trying to burn on 16:9 then found out my dvd only burnt on 4:3 resolution. idk, something to try i guess
