How do you put your hair in your helmet?

I have bangs, and my hair goes a few inches past my shoulders (I have layers)...and I'm wondering how other people put their hair under their helmet? I show hunters...and I want it so that my hair is covering half of my ear, but the back is pulled up into my helmet. Any suggestions? I've tried so many times...but I don't have a clue how people do it! Here is a picture of how I want to put my hair up:

This is the helmet I have...:

thanks! Usually I just either put it in a bun with a hairnet over top or else I put it in a pony tail and flip it up then put on my helmet from back to front. But this year I want to do it differently, lol.

Right after I get it cut... it SUCKS, because it's just *barely* too short to fit in a collected pony tail (I get it cut to the top of my shoulders, but most parts are shorter because I get layers... I have tons of hair and I need it to not look like an afro!). So sometimes I'll throw it into a french braid, and then if I have fly aways I'll put on a hair band. When it's longer than that (like right now... it's really, really long, like... just below my shoulder blades. I'm too poor to get a haircut right now LOL!) I'll put it into a low pony tail, but sometimes I really don't like doing that because my hair is so thick that it still is hard to put on a helmet with the ponytail being there in the back to get in the way lol.

It's much too thick to put in a pony tail UNDER the helmet, because, if I somehow even figure out how to make that work, I'll get a massive migraine from the immense amount of pressure LOL.

So I usually either do a low pony tail or a braid.

For hunters, I saw someone answer the other day with a really good method. I think they said to put the hairnet over your hair while it's down (tip your head back so it's all collected). Then put the ponytail OVER the hairnet, and do a bun however your method is of doing a bun. And you can put bobby pins in to fix the little trouble areas.

I am too lazy to do all that though lol.

When I used to show, I would put some bobby pins in the sides to keep any potential wisps from escapeing, then I would put my hair in a pony tail. My barret had a net attached so I would contain it that way. After that I would take a little hairspray to it to hold everything in place. It worked pretty well. I know others I rode with would use a hair net. I works well and you don't have to worry about bobby pins gels/hairspray or trying to get all your hair inside a helmet. I hope this helps.

I have very curly hair as well! what i do for shows since i have to put my hair into the helmet. i put my hair into a low pony tail. i put my head down and flip the pony tail so the end part is touching the top of my head and i put the hair net over it so now my hair is inside the hairnet.! i keep my head down and just plop the helmet on and then the hairnet and my hair is all inside the helmet! i also do this for schooling because my helmet is alittle big so i can do that for shows so i have to put my hair up like i am at a show ! hope i helped.!

  • Well, if I'm riding at home, I just wear it in a low pony-tail, below my helmet.

But if I'm at the shows, I use a hairnet like this:http://www.horsetackinternational.com/diamond-show...

And then I bobby-pin my bangs up, that way there is no loose hair... I hope I helped

Here are the steps to get your hair in your helmet like that:

1.) Get a hairnet that matches your hair color

2.) When your hair is down put your hairnet over your hair

3.) Tie your hair in a low pony tail to secure your hairnet to your hair

4.) Flip your head down and put your pony tail so it's laying flat against your head

    5.) Put your helmet on

I feel like I need to make a video tutorial on this...it's so hard to explain.. just take your time and the tip for it to cover your ears is the hairnet and putting the hairnet on whenever your hair is DOWN.

  • Put your hair in a bun and use some kind of gel to gather up the wisps. Then put on your net. Hair styles are for out of the ring Fashion in the ring conform to the norm or get points counted off !

I remember when it use to be completely in Fashion to show a horse in a Tux only! It was tiring and stiff but the Fashion of the day for the ring is what MUST be answered not personal whim!

personally when im schooling i put it in a pony tail and smash my helmet on over it, hey why bother if only u and ur horse see it anyways?? haha but for english showing i put in a pony tail and tuck the bottom of it into the holder (so it makes a loop)and than i put it into my hairnet.

if i were you i would:

grow out your bangs (at least for the most part u can cut them in the winter again)

    use LOTS of hairspray

and/or use bobby pins when you show.

pull your hair into a low pony tail then braid it, flip it up into the helmet and it should work. if not then french braid your hair and bobby pin the ends up to the rest of your hair. either way braids are a miracle for riders

i've never personally done this but i wanna try it at my next show:

one of my friends said she uses a wighat? maybe it was called a wigcap? either way its like the same as a hairnet pretty much except black and doesnt have the annoying knot that always digs into you head (hate that), bobby pins might be painful if u try to pin up ur bangs, i dunno, but go check em out

Source(s): i show hunters too and hairnets are way too annoying

    Try a french braid, perhaps?

I personally tie it in a ponytail and leave it at that.
