This question is for all who believe all sin is equal: so what about?

this verse in John 19:11? Jesus Himself said this, so all sins are not created equal. Some are called abominations ( Leviticus 18:22 and Proverbs 6:16-19 ), and others are called sin. There are obviously different degrees of sin, or John 19:11 wouldn't make sense. Anyone know any other scriptures that mention greater or lesser sin? Thanks in advance.

Update:

I will say this: even though sin is not equal in severity, the final judgment for all unbelievers is the lake of fire; extremely severe in itself. Satan has to suffer the most, because he is the author of sin.

Jesus mentions a sin that is unforgivable in Matt. 12:31-32 and calls it blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. But what exactly is this unforgivable sin? For that, we need to look at the context.

Matt. 12:22-32 says, "Then there was brought to Him a demon-possessed man who was blind and dumb, and He healed him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw. 23And all the multitudes were amazed, and began to say, "This man cannot be the Son of David, can he?" 24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, "This man casts out demons only by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons." 25And knowing their thoughts He said to them, "Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand. 26"And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? 27"And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Consequently they shall be your judges. 28"But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

people who declare all sin is equivalent are not even questioning approximately what they are announcing. Sin is an extremely historical concept in human society. Stone age human beings observed sin as an offense against the community or against the ancestors. The Aztecs believed sin advance into additionally an offense against the gods. The Egyptians believed in it long till now the Jews appeared and that they even had a Judgment corridor. Sin is likewise tied up with the assumption of taboos. Now, to come back to the ludicrous Xians, contemplate whether an all-loving God could deliver a sprint one to hell because of the fact she hadn't been baptized yet? could an A L God deliver somebody to everlasting punishment for stealing a candy bar? Telling a lie meant to guard somebody you cared approximately? Being depressed ( melancholy was once a sin), enraged, lustful or slothful, to no longer point out resentful, proud and grasping? nicely, in line with probability for greediness. How is slapping a baby in any way similar to rape? there's a reason human society grades crimes - it rather is clever.

Yes, this certainly makes sense when we realize that sin gets worse, so when it gets to the worst then destruction sets in and we destroy ourselves unless we repent. Thank God, that Jesus died for us to redeem us from all of this.

We can eventually get cut off from the vine which John 15:6 tells us, and this doesn't happen all at once, but results from gradually getting farther into sin.

Hebrews 6:4-6 is also a warning to us to not go astray because we might not be able to get renewed if a certain situation exists, like knowing all about Jesus and then denying him.

II Timothy 3:13 ~ But evil men and impostors will proceed from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.

The Bible indicates that sinners will suffer differing degrees of punishment.

Hypocrites will receive a greater damnation than others (Mark 12:38-40).

Backsliders will be punished more severely than if they had never known the truth (Matthew 12:43-45; II Peter 2:20-22).

When people say that all sin are equal, what they mean is that one sin will get you into hell as certainly as any other.

Some sins are, indeed, an abomination and have worse effects then others. For instance, God has said that if anybody harms a "little one", that it would be better for that person to tie a millstone around his neck.

Also, sex between people of the same gender is considered a curse according to the first chapter of Romans; etc.

But any one of them will send a person to hell, making them all equal from eternity's perspective.

this means that aresin is not equal when he specifies

    The Final Message

10 And he said to me, "Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near. 11 "Let the one who does wrong, still do wrong ; and the one who is filthy, still be filthy ; and let the one who is righteous, still practice righteousness ; and the one who is holy, still keep himself holy." 12 "Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done . 13 "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." 14 Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter by the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs and the sorcerers and the immoral persons and the murderers and the idolaters, and everyone who loves and practices lying.

I had to go back and read the scripture to see what Jesus was actually talking about and I dont believe he was referring to different degrees of sin but rather he was telling Pilate that he had no power over him unless it were given him by above because Pilate had just told him that he had the power to release him or crucify him. What I believe Jesus was saying is the Jewish leaders who delivered him to Pilate had the greater sin for their refusal to accept his message. They were blinded by their traditions and not truly following God.

Some are more injurious, but all are equal in regards to making one "imperfect".

If I give you a two glasses of water, where one has a drop of sewage and another has 20 drops, do you want to drink either one?

I think the important thing to remember here Earnie is that all sin is redeemable in Christ Jesus except for one....Blaspheme, which is to DENY GOD! Woe , to the person who denies or curses God for he will know the Fires of Hell ! right?

So all the other sins mentioned is really meaningless as long as they are repented, except for the non believers who are virtually denying God. Also, it is important to know that any Christian who lives in sin while God is dealing with them to relinquish their sin, is doomed to the fires of hell, as they are "Denying God" as well. Ex: If a person lives as an adulterer, murderer, homosexual, prostitute, etc, they are in fact, "Denying God" and this is what God is referring to when he comes to allow us to deal with our sins, and repent of them.....
