if you are talking about the drain to let water out of tub the answer is yes...BUT if you mean a drain connected to a pump of any kind it should be a safety drain....the following page is more for commercial pools and spas but will give you an idea: http://www.swimming-pool-information.com/virginia-...

Yes. The only different type of drain is the size. Tubs, of all types, can use 1-1/2" and shower (only) require 2" drains.
