Do undocumented workers actually pay taxes?
I was talking with a friend, and he told me that the IRS actually accepts payments from people whose social security number doesn't match their name. He also stated that the IRS will order the Immigration service to 'ignore' those who ape paying taxes.
I am looking for a good source to research this and find out if there is any truth to it?
All these years I have thought illegals are using social services and our schools, health care, etc. without contributing to the cost of everything.
I think a lot of US citizens believe this, and I am interested in the truth.
Sources, info please?

Back in 1986 they offerred an amnesty to the illegal aliens. Some took it.. many did not. One reason they did not was because they could earn significantly more money under the table than going legit. Those who took the amnesty, had to go legit. They worked and reported.
In those days, $9 and hour under the table was as good as $15 legit with the taxes. That has continued with the $9 apparently going up to things like $23 an hour under the table, and Los Angles, for one, has lost a huge amount of tax money. But that is all over the United States at this point. However, the Feds offerred the ITIN to allow illegal aliens to pay income tax while they worked, and they did. Not State Tax, just Federal Tax I think. In any case, the ...cases... differ a great deal, and some do pay taxes via the ITIN numbers, (Income Tax IRS Number). Some do not. BOTH groups are using fake I.D.'s and until Congress gets off its thumbs, and makes the Real I.D. have teeth, we just don't have a clear picture on that. LOTS of bogus web sites are coming up and offerring numbers that are worthless.
It stops here: some do... some don't.

Illegal aliens almost never pay any income taxes. Even if they are working under a false, forged or stolen SSN, they complete the W-4 in such a way as to ensure there is no withholding from their paycheck. They complete the form claiming "exempt," or else declare so many dependents that the projected income taxes, therefore the withholding, is zero. I have seen hundreds of W-4s filled out by illegal aliens who all claimed 99 dependents! That's not even counting all those who claimed fewer than 99, but enough to reduce withholding rates to zero.
Any Social Security & Medicare would go into the suspense file. Just look at how very little money is actually in the suspense file to see how millions of people actually pay no taxes.
Actually, there was a study done several years ago when IRS was issuing ITINs to illegal aliens - a practice since abolished. Dividing total tax receipts from all returns using ITINs divided by the number of illegal aliens with ITINs (about 7 million at that time), resulted in an average income tax receipt per household of $5.18, less well over $2 BILLION paid out in Earned Income Tax Credits which they were explicitly barred from receiving. Net effect of taxes paid less EITC payments was a net loss to citizen-taxpayers still exceeding $2 billion, which they pocketed or sent out of the US.

OMG!!! questions like this really put me on edge! YES! undocumented immigrants pay taxes!!! the government does not care whether you worked under a fake social security or not they take the money off their check and these people can never claim it back because of course the number is not real... everyone who resides in the u.s whether legal or illegal has an ITN number that you use to file your taxes with. So in reality these people that are working "under the table" are getting exploited because they are working for far lower than minimum wage, plus money gets taken off their check and when tax season comes around they can never claim their hard work, in most cases they have to pay! ... legal citizens don;t know this because they are immerse in their anti-immigrant issues they let themselves be influenced by ignorant and false statement that the media and people have created the truth is yet to be cleared out. It just angers me that this government is not doing anything about this. Everyday I see these poor people come through our doors in hopes of hope, something that will help them with their illegal status become legal. They did not choose that path believe me, they wouldn't be risking their lives as they are if this were true. ok.. im done but point proven... there are many ignorant anti-immigrant people in this forum, all they do is post false statements in hopes of influencing people that seek help in a negative way, crushing their hopes and dreams, but there are ways to become legal and I just want to see the government take action and do something about this BIG problem called "illegal immigration" remember their are people lives at stake...let's be more humane and do something about this whether you support it or not. Make it a comprehensive reform.
Thank You.

It is simple, legal immigrants pay taxes. If you have no birth cirtificate, or any proof of citizenship, try to get a SS number. It won't happen. Legal immigrants are on the guest worker program where some come over the border/work legally/ pay taxes, then after 3 years they go home. Now the time and conditions on that may have changed but they don't get to stay indefinitely. The ones Paying taxes from their checks are the biggest identity thieves.
Ignorant people intepret buying items at Wal-Mart or McDonald's and being charged Sales tax as paying taxes. This is not the same thing as federal/state/SSI withholding taxes that come from legal wage earners called tax payers. What about the babies of illegals who get welfare benefits? This allows the parents to work under the table.

I have still not figured out if the employers or the IRS retain what they deduct in these people paychecks. Even if they claim up to four dependents, they still get deductions as anyone else.
http://www.ssa.gov/employer/ssnv.htm
The employers hiring people whose SSN doesn't match the records are supposed to receive a fine:
http://www.irs.gov/govt/tribes/article/0,,id=18067...
However I know first hand people who only received a letter inquiring more information about them in order to keep their employment and you guess what? They were simply terminated when they were due to present the required credentials.
Many people was terminated when finally someone blew the whistle. The company was not hurt but they were actually acquired by a bigger enterprise and they still conduct business although their current employees do not provide the same performance...
At least those jobs are secured for US citizens and Permanent residents now, we don't know what the future might bring....
It is up to those involved to "blow the whistle" considering always the required evidence to follow through. Someone close to me worked in this company. I could only give this person my advice.....

Actually, some illegals do pay taxes, and some don't. If an illegal uses a fake SSN, they can claim as many deductions as they want including dependents, this makes the taxes taken out of their check very, very little. This is an old trick I saw the illegals use when I worked with them, and they learn these tricks long before they cross the border.
But some illegals do pay their fair share, does it add up to enough to cover schooling, health care social services, not even close.

I can't believe people are bragging about not paying taxes in broad daylight.
No wonder our country is going to hell. Docar is right the illegals commit fraud and the average hard working American citizen pays the price in more ways then one.
The IRS just wants to clean out your bank account and that is all. I don't think George Washington and the other forefathers had this in mind when they declared Independence from England.
Identity theft is a real crime with real victims. It takes away a person or persons soul and causes lots of distress. No wonder so many people are committing suicide in this country as of lately.

On June 11th, I received a call at my home from a collection agency in Missouri. They stated that they were calling on behalf of (a phone company) and wanted to collect an outstanding bill due for services rendered. Upon questioning the caller, I soon realized I had been a victim of identity theft. I never lived at the address in question, nor had I ever known anyone who lived at the address. The next day, I contacted the New York State Troopers and Albany, New York, Police Department in an effort to file criminal charges. After filing formal charges, I was advised to contact (the phone company) in an effort to begin clearing my name of this outstanding balance. I left 5 messages with the Fraud Dept, all of which went unanswered. My husband then contacted the President's Hotline for (the phone company), a number provided by a customer service representative. We were then contacted by an 'Escalations Manager' from (the company). We were advised by this person that identity theft is becoming common. When we asked what the process was for establishing a phone line, we were told that a person could establish a phone line using someone else's social security number." "I received a copy of my credit report and in 94 and 96 (a credit card issuer) has me down for having a... card with multiple late payments. I have never had a... card... I did not nor ever have had a card with this company. Either it is identity theft or they messed up somewhere. I want this removed from my record and a letter of apology from this company. Who ever was issued this card was not me. I was denied a credit card from my bank because of this issue." (This story posted online on 05/12/05)
HAVE YOU CHECKED YOUR CREDIT LATLEY.

True. Many of them use fake SS cards to work and FICA taxes are withheld from their wages. However since it's not their SSN, they never receive credit for the taxes that were withheld, nor are they entitled to receive benefits since they don't have a valid SSN. That said, an illegal who subsequently becomes legal may receive credit for the wages paid during the 3 years prior to attaining legal status if they can document the wages paid and the SSNs that were used.

According to the FBI 62% work for cash and pay no taxes!
According to the FBI 58% of welfare payments go to illegal aliens!
According to the FBI 29% of prisoners are illegal aliens!
That doesn't leave a lot paying taxes! And most of those lie about dependents, etc. in order to get tax breaks!
Fun Fact: If your identity is stolen and used by 10 illegal aliens in 6 different states the IRS will come after you for tax evasion but will not even divulge the names of the illegal aliens using your identity! Just more of the government aiding the criminals and screwing the citizens!

First, it was official the IRS didn't care how you earn your money or who you were. They just want their cut of it. Their problem is you can't be forced to incriminate yourself. If they insisted you revealed such things with your taxes, you could justify not paying them because you would. I understand they supply tax ID numbers to people who don't have social security numbers.
