Ford and Ford Stock at this moment?

Should I still buy Ford stock? I know I have missed the opportunity of making big money on Ford stock and it seems high at this moment. If the economy turns around sooner rather than later, people will begin buying more cars and I believe Ford will get the most business because of the future car line up and the fact that they didn't take any government money. I think GM and Chrysler have really alienated themselves and Ford will be the company to come out on top. So really my question is where is the ceiling for Ford stock could it still double and even quadruple if sales and the economy go right?

Well the last time Ford Stock was this high was back in 2005 and dropped below this point well ahead of the recession. I would look for it to pull back some before I considered investing. If you are going to go ahead and purchase now I would definitely hedge that with some protective put options since we are already very close to 5 year highs.

I believe Ford is going to do well for a while. If you bought today you would still make money on the stock long term. However, this is earnings season and there is still a lot of bad news in the economy that will be trickling out. Today, a lot of news on the European economies defaulting had investors nervous about our own debt situation. So, the market sold off. Basically, I would watch Ford until the news chatter quieted down. Then dip your toe into the pool. Don't invest all the money you want to put into Ford at once. But I believe Ford is a stock to own.

    I wouldn't bother.

Take a look at their key stats over at Yahoo! Finance and you tell me how a company with $132B in debt and only $32B in cash screams out to you as a worthy investment!

I know, I know...Ford made a profit. Yeah, that $2.7B profit came from $5.1B in overhead cost cutting. Do the math. They did not profit without drastic measures...measures that won't be around next year--like selling Jag-u-ar and Land Rover and Volvo.

I'm fine with waving the flag in regards to Ford, but be real here. It is not a fundamentally healthy company right now, so do not expect easy money from their stock outisde of some dummy rally.
