Who will the GOP put up for Pres. in 2012?

Just wondering, because it seems like theyre a little desperate for a candidate. The other day i heard Scott Brown might run.

I dont think Palin or Jindal could win, because few take them seriously. They couldnt get the moderate vote.

Obviously, Gov. Sanford has blown his opportunity.

In my opinion, i think Gov. Bob McDonnell or Gov. Tom Polwenski (i think thats how you spell it) would be a strong candidate.

Any thoughts?

I really hope Ron Paul, but probably not. As someone from MA who voted for Scott Brown I still hope he is not the candidate. We do not need the Republican version of Obama running (young, inexperienced, generally good looking, lacking substance).

I read that John Thune from South Dakota could have a chance and basing on how people vote for candidates (personality over policy no disrespect to Thune) there is a chance. I also see Mike Huckabee being a possibility, people have moved more pro-life since Obama took office and I can see his religious background working. I am with you on Palin and Jindal, mainly Palin. I don't know who Tom Polwnski is and know little about Bob McDonnell.

They are desperate for a candidate and I just hope they put up some who is ACTUALLY a fiscal conservative. If we can vote in a more Libertarian candidate (Ron Paul) the whole face of the Republican Party can get into the direction it should be in.

My preference would be Ron Paul. He might be old, but he is in good health. He has a long career as a maverick and has the ability to appeal to both sides of the spectrum. His track record of being consistently right about the economy and foreign policy will give him strong credibility.

Ron Paul is not only more conservative than Palin or Jindal, but he also has strong appeal to many on the left (this will be especially strengthened if Obama's presidency continues to be a debacle). The issue of the United Nations could possibly be for Ron Paul what the Panama Canal issue was for Ronald Reagan (especially since the UN will be holding a gun control conference around the time of the presidential election and since the UN is now talking about trying to enact global Internet censorship). There is also the possibility of a December surprise giving the nomination to Ron Paul (maybe heavy inflation will hit in late 2011, convincing the public that something has to be done about the Federal Reserve).

If Ron Paul runs again in 2012, I think he has a good chance to be the surprise nominee of the Republican Party. Had he been the nominee in 2008, I think the September economic meltdown would have won the election for him (as we all know, it was the economic meltdown in September that sank John McCain).

You'll get the answers you'd expect from conservatives.

The bitter aftertaste of Palin will still plague the republican party for 2012.

However if the republicans cant get themselves together, lean to the middle and encourage their best and brightest in terms of what the people want, not the republicans or conservatives.

I have no idea who the the GOP would put up, one thing it isn't short of is relatively decent people.

In all honesty, I'm a democrat. I believe Obama will break through the chains of the progressive agendas by then. (or he's a 1 term pres) and in doing so he'll set himself up for another election.

Campaigning with power is a major advantage.
