Why are the Saints being favored?

So I don't understand why everyone is picking the Saints to win this game. The Saints barely made it to the superbowl by NAROWLY beating the Vikings AT HOME. If it wasn't for 5 fumbles, and an extremely bonehead play by farve, they wouldn't even be in the superbowl. Colts have been dominant in the playoffs, and will not be handing out turnovers like the Vikinigs did. I'm a Colts fan, and I'm not trying to be rude, I just don't see the Saints as the favorite. I'm saying 35-14 Colts. Just curious on your input. Don't have to hate, just honest opinions please.

Update:

I guess when I say "favored" I don't mean point spread. I've watched the "expert" picks, and everyone is choosing the Saints. They say Brees is more accurate, and a better quarterback than Manning. And whoever said that the Saints outplayed the Vikings, you are a moron. Look at the stats alone (minus the fumbles) and see who outplayed who. Farve worked the Saints secondary

And the Colts got there by playing against 2 one-dimesional offenses. I doubt the Colts could fair much better against the Vikings either. That game will be high scoring and close, since neither team has the CB's to cover the WR's. Saints 41-38.

Let's not forget that the Colts allowed a Jets team that was averaging 149 yards passing to throw for 300 yards. Great pass defense those Colts have with the #1 passing offense being their next opponent.

I'm not quite sure, I think they are just being generous to the Lions because people feel sorry for them, when in reality the Saints should be favored by at least 21 points. The Lions have a terrible secondary that Drew Brees will tear apart with ease, and they also have a one dimensional offense with no running game that the Saints can shut down if they can simply limit Calvin Johnson. As a result, in all likelihood the Saints should win by at least 10.5, although I'm picking them to win by more 42-20.

Why do people point to past games as an indicator of what will happen in future games? Each game is different. The Colts are actually favored, just more people are pulling for the Saints due to the underdog thing.

You know the Colts were down to the lowly Jets 17-6 right before the half in their match up, right? 30-17 over the Jets is hardly a blow out.

The saints are NOT favored. The betting line is between 4.5 and 5.5 points favoring Indy. In other words Vegas is saying the score BEFORE the game starts is Saints 5 Colts 0. because the colts are the favorite.

The Saints aren't favored, and they probably won't win.

They will need to count on turnovers by the Colts in order to win, and that's really not a good game plan. Plus, their defense simply isn't as good as the Colts defense.

Obviously, it's the NFL and any team can win on any given day, but the smart money is on the Colts.

So your saying that the Saints won their spot in the Super Bowl because of 5 bad fumbles and a bad play by Farv. Isn't that the way the game is played? Someone on one team screws up a couple of times and the other team wins. Love them Saints!

The Spread is the Colts by three, ESPN also has the Colts winning, but im a saints fan so im pulling for the boys. But i think other NFL fans are just inticed by the cinderella aspect arround the saints. 43 years and weve only gotten this close once... A lot of football history could be made sunday.

  • I don't know what you have been listening to, but every person on the internet and on TV has been picking the Colts. The only person I heard picking the Saints is Deion Sanders. I agree with you on everything you said and I think the game will be a blow out. 41-20 Colts
