Is there a word that essentially means 'convinced of something false'?

Like you think something true but it's not. Unlike brainwashed, as you came to believe it because you want it to be true - nobody told you this false thing.

Tell me if this makes no sense or if you know such a word (or even a good phrase).

    I think "deluded" is a good one for this.

    Or, just "mistaken," "erroneous," "fallacious," "spurious."

    She clung to a fallacy (or fallacies).
