to tone up do high reps with light weights, avoid working your back and work with those low weights for extended periods of time. Doing this will strengthen and tone your muscles without shredding them. Then let a good diet take course, if you regularly work those muscles and eat right you will see weight and body fat drop, in turn revealing those newly toned muscles.

    Good luck

I would suggest swimming but there are lots of excercise machines that are low impact and designed to support the back. Depending on how bad it is and where on your back hurts there may well be some options there. You could probably check out a sports store to get an idea of options.

You may also find a local gym that has a free initial consultation with a personal trainer, which would allow you to get a low impact fitness routine designed with your particular injury in mind.

Alright- I was 13 and 5'2 in September, and I was 130, I did 45 curls a day and now in February, Im 5'3 and 110! I also do upbeat music songs everyday like go on youtube.com and type up Toros Cheer Mix! It's really upbeat! You'll learn to make up your own dance moves! Running a Mile a day by the way will help!

Water aerobics is very good for toning and losing weight, and particularly good when you have a bad back as the water supports you, reducing impact.
