Baptists: Is marriage a sacrament?

How do Baptists/Protestants decide what is a sacrament and what is not a sacrament? How does this differ from the Catholic Church?

Also asked here: http://www.speroforum.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID...

Update:

I have a friend who is IFB and their pastor said during their marriage that there are two sacraments: marriage and the Lord's Supper. So, are these Baptists wrong?

Update 2:

vr63 said: Catholics teach you need all 7 sacraments or you can not go to heaven.

That's not true, though. If you're going to tell me what the Catholics teach, please be accurate, otherwise you're spreading falsehoods.

That's what I thought: Baptists don't have sacraments; Catholics do.

The Bible only has two church "ordinances". We call baptism & the Lords supper ordinances. Marriage is a covenant. We do not believe in sacraments. Catholics teach you need all 7 sacraments or you can not go to heaven. Faith in the death, burial, & resurrection of Jesus Christ is all that is needed to receive eternal life.

    Romans 1:16

16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

    (KJV)

    Rom 10:9-13

9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

    (KJV)

Simply trust the word of God. You can't go wrong with that.
