Would you have a wedding at this place?

http://www.genittis.com/weddings.html

It fits my budget and I think they dress it up pretty darn well if you scroll down and look at the pictures on the side, I just can't imagine putting "hole in the wall" on my invitations. WHY did they call it that!? I can't decide if it is a cute little place for a small, semi-formal, family only wedding or if it's tacky.

Update:

I would DEFINITELY visit first and sample the food. It is very conveniently located for myself to check it out, and for our family to go if we choose it as a venue.

We are looking for a place that already has some character. I'd intended to have an outdoor wedding, but Michigan weather has me spooked and I cannot be bothered with extensive decorating of a plain hall, and a plain hall is about all we can afford. The package this place offers, as well as the location, is convenient but I am not sure if it would be tacky. I have a really small family and have never been to a wedding, so I don't have a sense of these things.

I liked the decor, I thought it looked nice in the pictures. I also read the menu, it looked good. I would consider this one, yes.

The "hole in the wall" term is usually associated with the wild west, outlaw gangs and a pass in Wyoming. It is also a charity for sick kids. I do not know why an Italian restaurant in Michigan would choose either of these name associations.

Ask them about their name, and see why it was chosen. If it is a good reason, then maybe you will feel better about it.

You could just put Genittis Italian Restaurant and the address on the invitation if you want, is the town a small one? How many Genittis Italian Restaurants on East Main Street in Northville, Michigan could there be?

I will concede however, in the big city near where I live there are two restaurants by the same name. Waring brothers split up, and each run their own restaurant now. But they are on different streets, and everybody in town that knows Italian food knows that I and II restaurants are run by different brothers!

Congrats, and good luck. Can we all come and have the 7 course meal? They promised to treat us like family...LOL.

I think as long as you can have your own input then it will look really nice for the wedding. The place seems cosy and friendly with an old feel which I always think makes the wedding seem like a lasting marriage (I realise it actually has nothing to do with that but it's the impression I always get.) I think the name is kind of cute, it doesn't sound pretentious as so many places do and offers a little bit of suprise and mysterious element so I'd go for it.

I don't think its tacky. And if it fits your budget great. Just double check if your colour scheme goes with it. It is a bit dark, but if its a evening/late afternoon wedding it doesn't matter, then its all about the candles and the fairy lights anyway.

    Good Luck

It looks old, dark and sad. "Hole in the wall" is a perfect name for it.

I think you can find a better place to spend your hard-earned money.

I think it looks kind of cool. Are you able to pay the place a visit?

Perhaps you can just refer to it as 'Genittis" on your invitations.
