I was asked today was I born again. How can I answer this question?
I just replied how can I be ? My mother passed away many years ago.
At least it shut them up .
I thought to myself what a silly question ?
Why do born again Christians push the born again thing as if it is the be all & end all ?
I know John 3:3 say's
3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again
What does it really mean to be born again ?
Why don't they just ask if you are baptized ?(John 3:5 Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit)
Is being born again something some Christian say as lip service ?
Is it the same as putting on the full armor of God (Eph 6:10-18)

I have a problem with this once saved always saved......The Bible promises: “Happy is the man that keeps on enduring trial, because on becoming approved he will receive the crown of life, which Jehovah promised to those who continue loving him.”—James 1:12.
People go to church get all emotional and think that they are Saved...Having no knowledge of Scripture , they have just built their faith on Sand....and at the least persecution their hope and faith Crumbles.....Jesus clearly Says at :...(John 6:43-45) In answer Jesus said to them: “Stop murmuring among yourselves. 44 No man can come to me unless the Father, who sent me, draws him; and I will resurrect him in the last day. 45 It is written in the Prophets, ‘And they will all be taught by Jehovah.’ Everyone that has heard from the Father and has learned comes to me.
The Hebrew Scriptures make no direct reference to incorruption, and they regularly stress the mortality of the human soul. Thus, the apostle says of Christ Jesus that he “has shed light upon life and incorruption through the good news.” (2Ti 1:10) Through Jesus, God revealed the sacred secret of his purpose to grant to anointed Christians the privilege of reigning with his Son in the heavens. (Lu 12:32; Joh 14:2, 3; compare Eph 1:9-11.) By resurrecting their Savior Jesus Christ from the dead, God has given such Christians the living hope of “an incorruptible and undefiled and unfading inheritance . . . reserved in the heavens.” (1Pe 1:3, 4, 18, 19; compare 1Co 9:25.) Such ones are born again while yet in the flesh, that is, granted the position of spiritual sons of God, born of “incorruptible reproductive seed, through the word of the living and enduring God.”—1Pe 1:23; compare 1Jo 3:1, 9.
Though dealt with by God as his spiritual sons and although having the promise of an incorruptible inheritance, these Christians called to the heavenly Kingdom do not possess immortality or incorruption while yet on earth in the flesh. This is seen from the fact that they are “seeking glory and honor and incorruptibleness by endurance in work that is good.” (Ro 2:6, 7) The “incorruptibleness” sought evidently does not mean merely freedom from moral corruption. By following Christ’s example and by faith in his ransom sacrifice, these Christians have already “escaped from the corruption that is in the world through lust” (2Pe 1:3, 4); they are “loving our Lord Jesus Christ in incorruptness” and ‘showing incorruptness in their teaching.’ (Eph 6:24; Tit 2:7, 8) The incorruptibleness (along with glory and honor) they seek by faithful endurance relates to their glorification at the time of their resurrection as actual spirit sons of God, and this is evident from Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians.

Being born again means you have encountered a spiritual filling of the holy spirit. To stay born again, you must keep the holy spirit "pleased" by filling your mind with the Word of God and obeying his commandments. The holy spirit doesn't leave you when you fall away (backslide) and pleads for you to turn back to God. But the spirit will leave you once you blaspheme against the holy spirit (reject God completely with deep passion and turn completely away).
Baptism is a spiritual ritual of what happened to you when you were born again. Just like the bread and wine represent the body and blood of Christ, it represents your acceptance of Jesus' death on the cross.
If you don't "experience a spiritual encounter" this does not mean you are not born again. You are not born again fully until this occurs. Until then, you must seek God with all your heart and you will find Him.
Putting on the full armor of God is self explanatory. Fearing the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. Without humility, fear of the Lord, and the Holy spirit (through Jesus), you can't put on the the armor of God. Any missing part of the armor leaves you vulnerable to temptation (satan).

Protestantism denies Original Sin. Therefore it has developed
the ploy that Baptism is not a sacrament, it does not remove
Original Sin, the sin which if left on the soul will send a soul
to hell with Satan and all his minions who fell from heaven.
Protestants claim that "Sin, besides, does not need 'removing."
You know how it goes. "Just say you are sorry." No ceremony.
No promises. No penance.
Since Protestants do not believe in Original Sin, the new
method is that any baptism is better than the Catholic one,
and "one must 'baptize oneself' by verbal and physical action,
of adultly 'becoming a member of a chosen sect.'
This is done is through a "baptismal celebration" and a
baptizing with water. There may be a certain formula used
in the ceremony's wording. It varies among the sects.
Catholics who lose their Faith grasp at being "born again" in
the newfound religion, declaring that the Church has no
power {they learned this from their Protestant friends}
to Baptize, Absolve, Commune, Confirm, Join Together,
Annoint, or Sanctify, the gifts of each of the Seven Sacraments
instituted by Christ. Such Catholics do not become Protestants.
They become bad Catholics. Their original Baptism cannot be
erased. It is indelible and permanent. Baptism is only once.
But what of Protestants who have been baptized? In leaving
Protestantism and becoming a member of Catholicism, the
party is given Conditional Baptism of Trent with the 18 WORD
FORMULA, and no other words are allowed in valid Baptism.
You might get into it with them if you state these facts, but this
is what your Traditional Doctrine declares that all who hold all
the Doctrine must believe. Why not give them the truth next
time? "You can only be baptized once--it is an indelible mark.
After all, Christ only died ONCE." Say it to them. Then leave.
They will sputter trying to articulate an answer.
"You must baptize Me, John." [For I, Alone, have power over
the devil.]

Being "born again" is being baptized. Some denominations are against baptizing newborns. These denominations choose to make their children wait until they decide for themselves. If the children want to be baptized then they are being "born again" with the Holy Spirit which is different then not having the Holy Spirit with you. Personally, I think its ridiculous to be chastised by these denominations for being baptized while still a newborn. I was baptized when I was 40 or more days old. I take offense to people who claim that my baptism didn't count because I need to be aware. I don't believe this nonsense. I believe the following verse makes it okay for all children (babies included) to be baptized: Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” God knew me before I was born. He knew I would not grow up to oppose my baptism. I'm glad I was baptized as a baby because I never had to struggle through life without the Holy Spirit. I always had the Helper with me. I think people should be baptized while still a newborn. However, if anyone was not baptized then and they want to be baptized later on in life then, its never too late. Even if you choose to confess that Jesus is the Christ and are baptized on your death bed, you will still be counted among His people. God bless.

I was born again just the way Christ described - through water and the spirit, in the holy sacrament of baptism. No, I am not yet saved, but I am on the road to salvation, and with God's grace will remain there until I am saved. The Bible tells us "he who endures to the end, he SHALL be saved".

Yeah its rude on both sides.
No different than anyone throwing terminologies that they KNOW the other person hasn't studied.
It's an attack on your lack of knowledge rather than an actual conversation of giving reason for reason.
No different than atheists trying to flash their "science" at you.
In the end, its all about " do you want to change your lifestyle".
thats really the end of it.

You have to acknowledge that Christendom teaches heaven as the only salvation for mankind. They teach that all righteous people go to heaven when they die. They correctly understand that to go to heaven one must be "born again" or anointed with holy spirit. Their error lies in thinking that this applies to everyone.
Those of Christendom are blinded by their clergy and tradition into denying the purpose of the earth (Isaiah 45:18) and that the earth will last forever (Ecclesiastes 1:4; Psalm 104:5, Matthew 5:5). They fail to realize the import of Jesus' words at Matthew 24:37. Just as the flood of Noah's day destroyed not the earth, but the ungodly society of humans ON the earth, the judgment facing us is NOT the destruction of the earth, but the unrighteous PEOPLE alienated from Jehovah God and all their institutions.
All Christians are not "born again" or part of Jehovah God' Kingdom (heavenly government).

Baptism has nothing to do with salvation.
the born of water Jesus was talking about was the birthing water. the born of the Spirit is salvation.
Born again and saved are the same thing.
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
just because your mom passed away doesn't mean that you are born again because your mom was, if that was what you were meaning by that. Salvation is a personal thing.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Jhn 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Jhn 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Jhn 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Jhn 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Ginosko92 gave a good link to the discussion on being born again.
Most of Christendom doesn't recognize that those who go to heaven are there for a special purpose.
In their teaching, ALL go there and have nothing to do but play harps and sing all day.
Rather, it is a special assignment to be "kings and priests". As the old saying goes, "too many chiefs, not enough indians", if all Christians went to heaven, who would be the "indians" since they all would be "kings and priests". Rather the truth is that those in heaven will be a blessing for those who are living on the earth, as Jehovah God promised Abraham.
So, how to answer that question?
"I haven't received that promotion." should be appropriate. That should also create a conversation.
An unpromoted Christian following in the footsteps of our Lord Jesus Christ and his Father, Jehovah God.

I am very glad to see you are stopping to think about this. Praise the Lord.
Being born again is in fact the OPPOSITE of lip service. It is a complete change of a person via the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Gone are the days when you live for yourself and your selfish desires... instead you surrender your life in the flesh to the Lord Jesus for His purpose and what He wants from you. It literally feels like you have been born again because life is so different.
You cannot be a Christian if you are not born again. You quoted Jesus saying so... and Paul also says this"
Romans 8:8-9
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
2 Cor 5:15-17
And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.... Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Please prayerfully consider that you cannot be a Christian without the indwelling Spirit that JWs say only 144k will receive.
Romans 8:8-9
So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.
