Why can't I open Microsoft Works with Open Office?
A Filter Selection box comes up, and none of the programs work. What can I do? I want to convert and save these files.

They are two separate programs written in different programming language.
You can use your Works file to File, Save as -- and save as an RTF or text file. The text file would open in Open Office or vice versa - however, you would lose some formatting.
Or, you could try converting one of the file to the other format by using an absolutely free, online conversion program, at www.media-convert.com. I have used it and it works pretty well.
