Do reilgions deserve to be treated like cults?

Why do we have to be so judgmental on someone`s beliefs? Its not fair to them and it doesn't look right when someone is rejected because of their religion. Do you agree, disagree or have a different opinion.

The fundamental basis of ALL RELIGIONS is the belief that they are better than everybody else. Without that unspoken belief they would not exist.

We have to be so judgmental of someone's beliefs because religious leaders are passing legislation on important issues like gay marriage and abortion. They are making these decisions based on delusions and illogic. Also, manipulating a child to believe in something completely illogical is child abuse, any way you try to slice it.

People who believe in stupid things are not exempt from criticism and ridicule just because it's a societal taboo to criticize religious beliefs. I treat Christians in the same way I treat Paranormal Investigators, Astrologists or Psychics; like crackpots.

In the Gospel of the Kalamas, Buddha says.

Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it..

Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many.

Do not believe in anything simply because it is found written in your religious books.

Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders.

Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations.

But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

The Buddha advised them to accept His Teaching only after having examined it for themselves and not out of reverence for him.

i believe that all cults needed to be treated as religions. they all were at one time until they grew in size and power.

  • They judge us, we can judge them. Its the only fair way. It's just human nature to do so.

If they are crazy or harmful, you bet we should judge them. Especially if they are bringing misery to "non-believers".
