  • How do I get my records back from my CPA?

My CPA has all of my W2's and my small business records. She does our taxes every year for years, and we file late because we are never done with the business taxes by 4/15. So we always do it in October instead, after filing for an extension. But this last year she had some personal tragedies and has not answer our repeated phone calls since September 2010. We still have not filed our taxes. We thought she was dead, but as it turns out, she is alive with a tragic story about a miscarriage and that she would do right by us. But that was one phone message on 9-Dec-10. We have not heard from her since.

Can we have her arrested? All we want at this point is our records. I hate to do that. She is a nice person. or she was.

  • need to know thickness of a torsion box?

I have a torsion box that is 1' x 4'. The grid inside is 5 rows by 8 columns made of 3/4" plywood. The skin is two sheets of 1/2" plywood.

The assembly is firmly attached at both ends.

How thick would I have to make the overall box so that it would hold a 360 pound load in the center? How thick for about a 550 pound load in the center? And by "hold" I mean so that it doesn't bend more than about 1/4 to 3/4 inches.

would an overall height of 2.5" do it or would I need to bump that up to 4". I want it to be safe, but I am running out of room too, and looking for ways to reasonably reduce the height of it.

  • How to calculate the torque for a motor for a 24" scissor lift?

What kind of reduction gear motor would I need to do this. I would prefer 120vac operation so I don't have to fiddle with batteries or inverters. This is going to be used in a workshop to raise and lower the height of the top of my workbench. I have seen this done with a battery powered drill btw, but I want to have it self contained.

A typical 24" automobile scissor lift has no motor. I want to add one. It will need to lift around 500 pounds about 14 inches in about 30 seconds to 1 minute, from an initial height of 10 inches to the fully extended height of 24". I plan on mounting the motor on the nut end of the threaded rod (acme 1/2" - 10tpi). A jack that size can handle up to 2.5 tons, so that is not a problem at all. But I don't want to have it under powered either.

    How would you calculate that?

  • unicorn burgers with pixie fritters?

    Looking for good recipes...

Are free-range unicorns better since they don't have any unnatural anti-bacterials in their feed? I don't want to be inhumane. Should the pixie fritters be served in cream sauce? What is a good batter for them?

  • pickling faeries sculpture, how to express diabolical experiments on faeries.?

How do you dissect a fairy? I'm looking for ideas on how to make parts etc. for display.

I just got back from Dragaon*Con and had an idea to show some examples of dissected faeries and to preserve some in pickling jars with formaldehyde. I am seriously considering this as part of a quirky steam punk scientific venture/personna. So where can I get fairy parts, internal organs to pickle. How would I make little faery corpses? I might even consider making pressed faeries. I think this would be a diabolically hilarious expression of my steampunky-ness. Any ideas on where I could go with this?

This is a legitimate idea for sculpture which involves the steampunk motif with an eye towards satirizing those interested in faeries. By doing scientific biological experiments on them - dissecting them, preserving them, collecting them like one collects insects, I hope to build a set of pseudo scientific looking experiments on faeries. I would even consider doing electrical stimulation of faerie limbs and wings with a Tesla coil.

This is to be dark satire with an aim for the bizarre. It should fit in with the "insane scientist" concept I am adopting for my steampunk personna - a sort of "Charles Darwin" or "Doctor Victor Frankenstein" like character that went awry.

I would really like your help on fleshing this out (so to speak)

  • Isn't it great that Sarkosy is calling for legislation against Burqas?

I heard it on NPR this morning. I'm so glad someone is standing up to these criminals. And I love what John Stewart did on his show last night in response to the censorship his network did to Southpark over the depiction of Mohammed. What do you think about all that?

  • Spiritually speaking, did John Barleycorn die for you?

John Barleycorn is a euphemism for barley grain that is harvested (killed) and ground and turned into malt and beer. Done right it is a religious experience. Do you brew beer and do you do it with any spiritual significance? Have you ever heard of the goddess of beer, Ninkasi? Raugutiene?

  • Is it Christian Bashing to say that Christians "stole" Pagan holidays?

As a Pagan, I think it is harrassing when people in our community state categorically that Christians just rip off old pagan celebrations. Don't Pagans rip off things from other religions all the time? For example, a lot of native american tradition, voodoo, shamanism. Pretty much anything that is pretty is up for grabs with pagans from what I have seen. (which is a lot)

And is Voodoo the same thing as Santeria? Is it a religion to you, and is it more concerned about what you do or what you believe, or are they evenly mixed? I know very little about it, but I have always been intrigued by it.
