Will I lose Power of Attorney on my loved one if I put them in a nursing home?

I was told that if I did it would be as if the state took over, I wouldn't have say so as to what medications were given to my loved one etc. Is this true? Please give links to the facts instead of just opinions, this would be so much appreciated. Thanks!

No. You will always be the power or attorney for that person, especially if you are power of attorney of healthcare you have the right to make the decisions and be informed of what is happening! I worked in a nursing home!
