Should I tell my history teacher to stop her annoying rants?

I'm not religious but my history teacher always rants on religion, the catholic school board and everything. I go to a public school, so why should she be doing these things? I know she's an atheist but she shouldn't bring religious arguments to school. It's not even like she's offending me, but she shouldn't be talking about the bible being fictional when we are learning about the European fur trade. Our class is pretty religious and she knows when she says these things everyone yells and argues (which is why i'm mad) and it's soo annoying. It's not even history anymore. Should I talk to her about it?

I asked this in religion and spirituality, but lets face it..everyone there are rude and obnoxious anyways.

You need to go above her head...she is out of line, totally. Her *opinions* don't matter. She has no proof of her rants and besides, it has nothing to do with the subject she is teaching. Tell her, when they offer a class on creationism(or religion) vs. atheism she can rant all she wants- until then, no one signed up for that garbage.

Source(s): isn't she a hypocrite? they preach so much about tolerance, yet the most intolerant bunch of cry babies I've ever seen.

Tell you school principal. This teacher can and most likely will be fired for this, as she should be. This is unacceptable. Definitely tell your parents, too, and encourage your classmates to do the same. If possible, get a recording of her rantings. If you can't, it's okay, everyone in the class will back you up. I high school, I had an English teacher who was supposed to be teaching writing, but instead we got an ear full of political science. I learned a lot about Nixon and watergate, but not much about writing.

If you are comfortable talking to her about it, by all means say something. Her opinions on religion are not appropriate classroom lectures.

If she does not stop, you should talk to the principal about it.

It is no different than if she was religious and always ranting about why people should believe in God, and follow the Bible. The school would certainly put a stop to that...this is no different.

When ANYONE (meaning religious or not) shoves their ideas down others throats, especially in a school environment, where it is very inappropriate, is very frustrating and not needed. Everyone has their own opinions but those opinions do not need to be forced upon others. You can talk to her if you like but since it is affecting many people maybe you and others should do that. If that does not work (or she is one of those who does not show courtesy) then you'll have to go to someone higher than her in authority and get it straightened out.

Actually you are not suppose to discuss religion in school unless its about its a lesson like the history of islam or christianity or buddhism etc but what she is doing is wrong. You can report her you know and she can be dealt with if you feel she is affecting everyones eduacation but what she is doing is disrespectful and wrong.

Maybe that's her strategy which is to make the class yell, and argue, and YES, THINK for yourselves. Why should she teach you guys stuff you already know? But go ahead and WHINE to your teacher that you somehow know better how to teacher her class than she does.

Well the bibble is a historic fairty tale but I do understand what you mean by off topic. As for me I enjoyed those teachers I found it amusing how off topic they can be especially when they get into their personall life and were meant to be doing maths. Enjoy being in school put your head down when the tests are coming and thats about it I guess.

You should go to your principal and mention what your teacher is doing.

Don't talk to her about it, cause it sounds like she really wouldn't care..but the principal is her boss.

She'll care what they have to say.

u can say something, but know that your grade will suffer. u need to get used to it, cuz this is what college is all about. professors forcing their opinion on u and then forcing you to regurgitate it on a test. just need to grin and bear it, sorry. hopefully you come out okay on the otherside.
