Why do some people ask questions, only to block the truthful answer?

The only reason I would want to block someone is if they're truly obnoxious. Like the Alan Alda guy who seems to throw inane answers in every question. I'd also probably block guys who post lengthy bible verse rants that do not answer the question, like the guy above me.

The truth is hard for anyone to believe until they, themselves have inquired into it and are convinced of it.

Opposing points of view can be informative, especially if they poke holes in your assertions or properly test the truth.

Getting the last word in, even edgewise, does not necessarily make a winning argument. Sometimes it makes a winning fool.

So with all of that said, someone please answer this question so I am not the guy with the last word.

Although I'm an atheist, sometimes I'll select a theist's response--not to argue, but becaue I honestly think it's the best answer. What I'm really looking for when I ask a serious question is a thoughtful and honest answer. It doesn't matter whether I agree or not. But if they just post bible quotes and fallacious reasoning, I can't honestly award them "best" anything, except, perhaps, best example of a failure.

As for blocking fellow posters. . . it's the hallmark of a coward.

You know Ernie, Sometimes you just have to go with the flow and I've found it's better to show peace and harmony in our words and thought process. This might confuse and settle them faster than being quick to respond with our own Christian rhetoric...To a non believer our Christian words are as much "retorical" to non believers as a non believers' rhetorical reaponse seems to turn us off. Though we know not to turn our email's off to them in the hopes that one lost soul may come to God through us, and it's not important that they leave their emails open for response because we know we hold the truth and they are lost to the world....right? Amen!

People block those they strongly disagree with, on both the side of Atheists and the Christians. It is not just one. Plus in both sides if they block those that disagree with there statement. In later questions, it looks as if more people agree with them, and they will use those stats in later questions.

There are just so many confused people in this world and you see them in here since this is a mixture of all walks of life. We can pray for them but they have to want the truth too. Sometimes people have to go through a major crisis before they will decide they need the Lord. Jesus is Lord and we know he always will be and we are thankful every day for the truth he has given us, and that we can know Him.

Some people cannot handle any opposing viewpoint. Why they are here is beyond me. lol If it really bugs you, there's 2 ways to get around it. Everyone knows you can create an alternate account (that's one) but the other is more fun, in my opinion. E-mail me and I'll tell you what it is. lol

Revelation 2-3) When People hear a Good Minister of the Truth of Jesus Christ, and that if they don't repent from their sins their headed for Hell ( Matthew 5; Matthew 10:28; Mark 9:42-50; Luke 9:42-50; Proverbs 5,7,15, Deut 32:22; Revelation 14 & 19-21 as Lake of Fire,

Theyd much rather stay drunk, High on illegal drugs, smoking poison cancer sticks called cigerettes, 1 Cor 3, 1 Cor 6, 2 Cor 6 all have this same verse and message Know ye not that your body is the temple of God, and ye are not your own?

Maybe simply put TRUTH HURTS and they can't take the emotional pain Like telling a Homosexual that they need to repent from that sin against God, Lord Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit ( Romans 1:20-30; 1 Kings 14; Lev 18; Genesis 19) or they'll end up in Hell.
