Why is Anarkali's story such a mystery?

They could easily excavate the site she is allegedly buried under or use something that can see under ground; her burial was never proper to begin with so I don't see what it would hurt to do so.

Update:

Well archaeologists can tell what a person was like in status and wealth and so forth from their remains sometimes so I thought it would be worth it to do it. Also, don't some people believe there is no one buried there at all?

Agreed. But exhuming the body wouldn't necessarily prove anything.
