What do you understand from this dialogue?

A man and a butterfly is in a cemetery (I know butterflies can't talk but it is essential to the scene)

Butterfly: How is the life of a man?

Man: Complicated, chaotic, unpredictable

Man: How is the life of a butterfly?

Butterfly: I do not know for I have never been anything else but a butterfly.

What do you understand from this dialogue?

Thanks

Subjective descriptors are meaningless unless you've experienced multiple possibilities. In other words, the life of a man is complicated/chaotic/unpredictable compared to what?

This doesn't make any sense. Why would the Butterfly say, ''I do not know for I have never been anything else but a butterfly''. I mean, then man did ask, '' How is the Life of a ''Butterfly''? ''

That there is no difference between the butterfly and the

man other than that the butterfly knows this and the man

    does not.

The butterfly meant we can't compare something with itself; to compare something there should be at least two things.

I have been nothing but a butterfly, how can I find an adjective to explain the lives of butterflies.

The butterfly remembers no other experience other than being a butterfly and so has nothing to compare and contrast it against. I wonder though why the butterfly doesn't remember being a caterpillar. If it can talk, I mean, it should be able to remember.

The butterfly doesn't make comparisons..so doesn't suffer the same things as man.

  • 1 decade ago

he can't compare because he knows his (butterfly) life only.(he mean butterfly.okay??)

man always compare his life with others.

  • 1 decade ago

    that butterflies don't understand themselves.

Both have not understood how to enjoy life, enjoy nature and beauty.
