Pararescue in the united States Air Force?

Ever since i was little i wanted to fly jets but i got talked out of it because i didnt have the grades and recently i just found out i do meet the qualifications and i want to try to achive being a pilot in the air force. But i cant get into the academy yet my recruiter said that i can apply after 6monthes of being enlisted and most likley get into the academy and try to be able to go to flight school. I know recruiters dont always tell the truth, but would that actually work and would i be able to get into flight school. And i know you have to be in the top percentile and idk if i could over all those students at the college. Is flying going to be outta my league?

should i think about pararescue, because i have always wanted to help people and this is deffinately helping people. Anyone been a pararescue?

how would the schdule be? boot camp of regular cadet training and THEN you to go pararescue school? and then for how long till you get deployed to where ever?

Or please could i get some advice on my options. Thanks!

By the way im still in high school ( senior ) and 18

I've always wanted to help people

To start at the top, if you want to be a pilot do NOT enlist. It is possible to take that route, but you are making it a lot harder for yourself. The Academy is a great place, but it isnt for everyone. If you have struggled in high school with your grades then you would likely struggle even more at the Academy and put yourself in jeopardy of getting kicked out. However, if you are up to the challange and you think you have a legitamate chance of getting in then apply for the next class as a civilian, not as an enlisted guy. Nothing against being enlisted, but you are making the process a lot harder for yourself.

The better option would be to go to a college with an Air Force ROTC program. It will be more relaxed than the Academy, but you will have to work harder to be in the top of your class to get the smaller percentage of pilot slots that are available.

If you are setting aside pilot and want to enlist and push yourself to be pararescue then be ready for a true challenge. You would go to boot camp like everyone else and then start training in your actual career field. As mentioned above their washout rate is extremely high and if you don't make it you are still committed to the Air Force do to whatever other job they might need that may not be anywhere near your top choice. If you do make it then you will be with Special Ops Command and you will deploy as often as they need you to. As far as I know those guys have no set rotation and are somewhere in the world keeping busy often.

Not many people know much about the career field and even your recruiter may be short on info, your best bet may be to email a public affairs rep at Hurlburt Air Force Base. They might be able to get you more information or point you in a better direction on where the info can be found.

Np, pararescue is an enlisted AFSC The Air tension has attempt against rescue officers, that struggle by an excellent variety of an identical training yet there are purely approximately 22 CRO's allowed to start training each and each year Their standards are far bigger than the factors for pararescue.

I live in Wichita Falls Texas, home of Sheppard AFB. I have been at parties and have met close to 100 guys that look like they are a mix of Rambo, Chuck Norris, and Arnold Swarzanegar, and they all told me that it is impossible to become pararescue... They said it is physically impossible. These guys were huge, I wouldn't dare mouth one. So you can take this one of two ways:

1.) Prove me and everyone who doubts you wrong and work your *** off and become one of the Elite(not few) in all branches.

2.) Just agree and say ok...

Only you hold the key my friend. It's a long hard journey. But hell, that's just life.

Para rescue is the hardest of all the Jobs in the Military with a drop out rate of about 85 %

some people say it is tougher than the Seals

aim High but don't give up if things don't work out
