Whats up with my Pug?
A few nights ago my Pug randomly collapsed.. and stopped breathing and went completely limp. Just now i noticed sticky foamy saliva on his mouth and am a bit concerned. I think it might be because hes been licking my wall for a few minutes now but hes just gone and flopped down under my leg. but hes breathing, now hes snoring. I think hes just tired. But is the foamy saliva from wall licking? Its strange, the vets checked him over and hes healthy enough but the collapsing all of a sudden and giving the impression of being completely dead for a few minutes baffles me.
Hes on antibiotics at the moment to treat Acne, its penicillin twice daily or something like that. Two weeks ago he was throwing up all friday night and saturday morning and wouldnt eat or drink so we told the vet about that too because we were going to the vets anyway. I think it was the small amount of peeled cooked potato i gave him with his usual food.. but i dont know. His face had swollen up last week and his arms were lumpy and we rang the vet and they told us to bring him in so we did. the day before he had a small amount of foamy saliva on his mouth which i mentioned to the vet but my mum was going on about 'ohh its nothing blahblah you panic too much' (Wth? His face randomly swelled up. of course i was worried) so i didnt really get a chance to say what the foam was like it was sticky not drooly. I think the swollen face was a reaction to the frontline he had put on him 20 minutes before. although hes had it before..
It seems hes asleep now actually. but the other day worried me and i have no idea what it might be...he has collapsed before and defecated but i thought that was from being overexcited, like stopped breathing because he was doing way too much. that was back in november, hes six months now. but the other day he was totally relaxed and came to find me in the kitchen then started trying to cough something up i went over to him to see if he had anything in his mouth he shouldnt have but then he walked away and fell onto his side..he didnt have anything in his mouth though. What should i do when he collapses and stops breathing again? My mum tried to breath air into him because he was completely still, didnt move nor breath...he came around after a few minutes of trying but whats the best thing to do in this situation? Shes learnt cpr but ive heard if done improperly it can cause problems.
we got an appointment with the vets to check up on the acne next saturday anyway..but should we go sooner? How can i convince my mum to go sooner she doesnt listen..I tried to tell her to ring the vet yesterday but she argued with me saying 'Oh hes fine now hes running around normally' i was like duh. but she says its too costly to go to the vets, i understand that which is why i offered to pay for the treatment out of my own savings. I have a few hundred..but she just ignored me and went off shouting about how the insurance costs so much. blah blah. Hes never seemed to have trouble breathing before he never makes snorty noises when breathing normally only when running around for a while..
He was from show breeders and hes well bred and has had lots of tests and xrays done as a young puppy in their care but he can breathe in and out fine its just sometimes hell cough as if theres something stuck in his throat and unless i hold him and calm him down hell go to the next stage. collapsing. He usually coughs when hes been playing with my mums young pug and comes and sits by me to calm himself down but the little on jumps all over him and makes things worse.

Pugs have MANY health problems, especially in the respiratory system. Your pug may be collapsing because he isn't getting enough oxygen.
My pug is the same way, she was practically the 'runt' of the litter that got all the bad genes and nobody would buy her so they sold her to a pet store. I took my pug to the vet because she would stop breathing during the night and it would scare me terribly. My vet told me her nose holes were so tightly compacted together that she could breath OUT but when she tried to breath in it would almost close her airway completely. Which maybe this is the case for your pug. Like I said, they have many respiratory problems (most are genetic) and your pug more than likely collapsed due to this.
You need to take your pug to the nearest vet as soon as possible to have his respiratory system checked out, and if all else fails like the persons said above me, I would check into getting dog insurance. My pug is a hydrocephalus (water on the brain) pug, and she has MANY health issues (including the nose problem) we have to deal with, they told me she would not live the complete life a healthy dog would so to get her dog insurance.
good luck and God bless.!
EDIT: as for your dog having the white bubbles, my pug has those same bubbles coming from her nose when her allergies are acting up, so maybe your pug is having a terrible flair up from his allergies (probably from your wall) and is collapsing because he isn't getting enough oxygen. I would definitely bring this up with your vet.

My brother had a pug for a few months but he ended up finding a new home for him. His pug was terrible. He had allergies so he couldn't eat out of some food bowls and could only play with some kinds of toys. Whenever they would leave the house he would poop and pee all over. He also wouldn't go outside without a sweater on. He was a very picky dog and he didn't like some people. He was spoiled at his previous house so that could be part of the reason.

H eoculd have an allergic reaction to the medicene or a health problem that hasnt been noticed. Dogs dont just collapse randomly you need to get your mum to take him to the vets and if she refuses Id reccomend going to talk to the vet to explain how your dogs behaving and ask for advice. And yes CPR can actually kill an animal if you do it incorrectly continuoulsy and the same for mouth to mouth. He might have a problem breathing or whatever but this is serious and you need to have it all checked up IMMEDIETLY.
he might have rabies as well because he's frothing from the mouth ?

Thre is certainly something seriously going on here. I would have said seizures, but a dog having a seizure does not normallly stop breathing. Start recording everytime this happens, what happens and time the period. Definitely go back to your vet and insist that these problems are investigated. Ask for a specialist referral in your vet does not have a clue.

Sorry, I am not a vet and cannot see your dog so have no idea what is happening. Good luck.
EXTRA: Do not listen to these imbeciles who are telling you the dog has rabies - they are just showing their ignorance!

Maybe the dog is rabid, just kidding. If you can't get insurance then you should put your money in a special place and label it "Emergency Dog Fund".Maybe the dog has a disease.Go to a different vet to check if it is something that the other vet could not diagnose.Hope I helped.

well it's hard to tell for sure the foam could indicate rabies or it could be a reaction the medicine your giving him. he may be having an allergic reaction to the medication? good luck! i love pugs they are so cute. :oP
