3 (4a2-9)=

    Yep, once you factor out that 3, you have the difference of two squares (4a^2 and 9, which are the squares of 2a and 3, respectively).

    12a²-27=3(a²-9)=3(4a²-9)=

    =3(2a-3)(a+3)
