Can two different RAM DIMM's have different timings and work in one unit?

I have a computer that uses DDR 400 ram at a specific timing and has 3 sticks of 1GB each. I want to upgrade this to 4GB by adding another stick. I have looked around but can not purchase any DIMM's that have the exact same timing. I have however found some DIMM's that have a higher rating and was hoping I could use them with my existing DIMM's with a little slowdown on the faster module naturally. Would this work?

It will work. As you expected the system will just step the faster clocked module of ram to the speed of the slowest stick in the system.

place the RAM with the backside latency interior the 1st slot. reckoning on the board, it is going to likely p.c.. up the records from the SPD from the 1st slot. it is on no account a sturdy concept to mixture DIMMs like that as a results of fact they are built with distinctive chips. you at the instant are not likely to wreck plenty yet you're finally slowing down the works. 2 cents: 86 the SuperTalent into the wastebin, shelve the Kingston for a wet day and visit New Egg and purchase a matched pair of super rapid US made Mushkin RAM. .Your rig will spring to existence.
