Why does Mike Huckabee keep going after libertarians?

Question

He attacks them in his book "Do the Right Thing", and he said "CPAC has becoming increasingly more libertarian and less Republican over the last years, one of the reasons I didn't go this year."

Shouldn't he and other Republicans be trying to court libertarians, rather than attacking them?  Shouldn't Republicans be looking for common ground with them, especially on issues like shrinking the size of government, and fiscal conservatism?

I think they secretly want their support, but are afraid to be associated with the kooky fringe of that are the Tea Party.  The Republicans have been anything but conservative over the last 30 years, the national debt has been on the rise since Reagan and had only stopped when Clinton was in office.

Maybe old Huck and the other Repubs ought to join us. A party of really small government would be nice because we don't have a small government party right now. The Republicans are just liberal-lite.

Because libertarians and the Tea Party are going to split the conservative vote enough to leave the Democrats in power.

Considering he is a Religious Nut,I suppose his main opposition to Libertarians is that they're too "Liberal" on certain issues.Such as wanting to end the POINTLESS and FAILED Drug War,or that they don't think "Stoppin them Homos from gettin Murried" is cause for a Constitutional Amendment.
