Our school is doing a research project and we choose different topics. I at least need 3 reasons for this question!

The Soviets where threatened by the US's Nuclear weapons because the US didn't share information on how to make one.

The Soviets where communists and the US doesn't like communists.

There was a lack of trust between the two after the war because of rumors that the Soviets where planning on making atomic bombs and then using them.

Would you prefer a Hot War?

The Cold War was about two sides building a nuclear arsenal, for the most part. The two biggest kids on the block, both scared of eachother, trying to arm themselves and deter the other side.

    1. Peace Through Strength

    2. Keep rogue nations at bay, and to protect smaller countries that were allies of the US.

    3. Doing so was also a furtherance of many technologies...like RADAR, Stealth, Computers, Aviation, Nuclear Power, Rocketry, and others.

Well here are the answers, at least in my opinion.

Reason 1) The US was against the USSR (Communist Russia)

Reason 2) It's obvious of the usual Superpower control bid

    Reason 3) Unknown. Sorry :|

Because the main rivalry as between Russia and the US! Russia and the US were basically racing to get to space, built the best weapons! And we basically threathened eachother throughout the entire Cold War! Thanks god Reagan finaly came in and ended it, or who knows what wouldve happend! And ya! The US basicaly wanted to stop the spread of Communism! Thats why we went to places like Korea an Nam! And Afghanistan!

the biggest reason for a country to take part in a cold war, is so there is no actual REAL war.

it's all done with smoke and mirrors...the russians sent military aid to cuba for example, the US

sees the missiles in cuba and tell russia to get those missiles out of cubs, russia says it's not their missiles, it's cuba's missiles...it goes back and forth till someone blinks, in that case russia, and the missiles are removed before they were actually used....like i said, a cold war, prevents a hot war
