How can I get my curfew extended?
I am 17 years old. I will be 18 in less than a month and a half.
My parents have my weekday curfew set at 8 pm. This would be fine with me... except I work until 6 pm every day. If I am going anywhere, I get there usually around 6:30. To be home in time, I need to leave around 7:30. This only gives me an hour to do anything...
I am responsible. I do work around the house, I get good grades, am in National Honor Society, on honor roll, have gotten a $15,000 scholarship to school. I win awards for my artwork and I do community service.
How can I ask for my curfew to be extended? I am not asking for a super late time, but even being able to stay out until 9:30 would be great! I just want to stop being treated like a baby!
I am up until 12 every night reading or drawing so it isn't like staying out a little later will affect what time I go to bed at or anything, either..

If your going to be 18 in a month why do you NEED a curfew? What can they do to you when your 18? unless the laws are different where your at, your an adult at that age.
Please do not listen to the nonsense that person above me stated. By trusting them and how have they TRUSTED you when you've worked so hard? Ridiculous. You've shown that your responsible enough so you'll just have to do what you need to do. Damn i'm a bad influence and i love it.

well, obviously your parents are doing something right, gees! Well, I would just simply ask. Maybe compromise, and say have one or two nights a week where you get to stay out later, and maybe set a limit, like, a month, for your parents to see that you will still maintain all you are doing. So, I would present a 10pm curfew two nights a week for a month, and if after a month they feel like it's hindering you, then they can change it back. Obviously your parents must be pretty strict by the sounds of it, and I bet they're pretty used to having a lot of control over you, so it might be difficult for them at first, but you're nearly an adult, and unfortunately for them they will soon be giving up all control, so it might be a good baby step for them as well. Well, good luck!

Make some progress in school or your chore, but always obey a bit. It can't be all that bad baby girl.
