Why does my laptop randomly shut off?
Everyone asks the same question, but they all notice patterns when their computers shut down, such as the fan turns on or when they run a certain program. I have no such luck. It seems like my laptop shuts down whenever it feels like it. I thought it might be a virus so I literally just reinstalled Vista TODAY and wiped all my files out, but it's already shut down randomly twice today. My second guess was that it was the battery seeing as I received a notice that I would have to buy a new one, but it also said it would be fine if I just left it plugged in, which I always do, but that doesn't work. I tried plugging it into different outlets but to no avail. Would it still be necessary to buy another battery?

My laptop was doing that and it was because it was overheating. To fix it, first my hubby opened it up and cleaned the fan, it was dirty. Also if you sit your laptop on a desk or a bed or wherever it cant "breathe". I had to prop mine up so air could get underneath it and circulate and allow the fan to do its job. Now I have bought one of those cooling mats which I got on sale for 10 bucks. So you can do either get a cooling mat or just prop it up when using it so air can get underneath. my computer no longer shuts down unexpectantly. Hope this helps :)
