Do you need to be 13 or 14 to get a Facebook account?

Facebook's Statement of Rights and Responsibilities says that you need to be 13 years old to have an account on Facebook. For more information, follow the link in the source.

Legally, you need to be 13. This is because of a law set into place in 2001 called; The Children’s Internet Protection Act. So, if you willingly sign up for a service like Facebook or Myspace, and your parents decide to sue them for not 'protecting you from inappropriate materials', it wont hold up in court. So, as long as you don't get in trouble, or have parental consent, no worries.

Your high school class has to be represented, you have to be a freshman. There's no age requirement, more of a grade requirement.
