Why won't anyone debate Lord Christopher Monckton on global warming?
Lord Monckton proposed a challenge to Al Gore on the topic of global warming/climate change. Hasn't happened yet. If global warming is so easily proven by science, why won't Gore rise to the challenge?

Because they are too afraid of the truth. The reality is that AGW is a poor and under supported theory.

Monckton focuses on particular aspects of the science to win debates. When he debates scientists he focuses on aspects that aren't the speciality. Being scientists they are usually unwilling to discuss these aspects (as they leave that up to the experts). If he was honest he won't debate the speciality of the scientist with them ... but avoids this at all cost. In Australia he should debate Dr Karl. Dr Karl is a public scientists willing to debate and argue matters that fall outside the realm of his speciality. He is a well read person. Also to argue someone like Monckton (who is a good public speaker) you need to get a scientists with a personality (who is also a good public speaker) - Dr Karl would give him a good run for his money!

I agree with Xenon, Gore has nothing to gain and everything to lose by debating. Besides Lord Monckton has debated the premise before and kicked his opponent's a$$ all over the stage. Read the link. I have more.
What does it say about the AGW hypothesis if it cannot be defended in the classical debate format?

The problem with challenges is that they are really easy to make but a hell of a lot harder to make happen. How many people would love the chance to debate climate with Gore? Dozens? Hundreds? Even if Gore couldn't answer questions and lost a debate, does that actually disprove global warming? Its not like Gore is a great scientific mind, hes more the figurehead and the famous target because of his book.

Al Gore is neither a good debater nor a scientist. He is smart enough to know that he has absolutely nothing to gain and everything to lose.
And I say that despite generally agreeing with the main themes of An Inconvenient Truth but hating all the bogus illustrations and assanine unscientific statements he made in the movie. Gore BADLY needed a scientist proofreader for his script.
As to Lord Monckton, he's a bit of a nut. Those with science backgrounds do not find him very convincing. Plus, he has admitted publicly to lying in order to promote his popular game that funds him. So he is definitely an interesting kind of salesman and often likable despite his questionable ethics.

Tim Lambert debated Monckton and kicked his butt.

Al Gore is not a scientist, he is a fiction movie maker and an X-tobacco farmer. He just wants billions and billions of your tax $$$!
Yippie! Money! Money! Money!
I like Moncton's critique of Al Gore's movie

Verbal debates are of very little use. The debate takes place in publications.

I saw him on Glenn Beck's show. The guy is very smart and in my opinion right. He totally disproved what scientist say about global warming. My opinion is that Al Gore is scared to debate because he knows he'll get his a5s handed to him. And also, us Americans hate getting told we're wrong, lol.

Because he can't answer basic questions about his theory.
For example, if you do the math about a sense of scope it becomes obvious that we can't effect the climate.
