Chili police force should forget about the looters and go where they are needed most.?

Why do the police worry about looters in grocery stores when there are people dying and badly injured that need their help more? The food in the stores will just go bad anyway so why place so much attention on a few loaves of bread, milk, and produce that remain on the grocery store shelves? The food will just rot and attract vermin if not cleared out. They should be glad that people are taking it and using it up before it goes bad. Makes no sense.

Of course they should. A natural national disaster is just cause for people to gang together and plunder the weaker. I'm sure the people looting from the owners of these businesses are seeing the stolen items are being distributed evenly and fairly not being hoarded for the strong.

My only concern is without power what are they doing with the fridgs, stereos and electronics that are being taken.

The Chili police are too busy enforcing the beans or no beans law.

As for what the police down there in Chile should do after the earthquakes.....couldn't care less. That's their business.

Your sense of reality is warped. What about the owner of the grocery store, who worked hard to get where he is, has a family to feed and relies on that grocery store to support himself and his family. Who pays for the trashed grocery store? Who pays for the broken windows and stolen merchandise?

Looting and rioting creates violence and crime, people get hurt, people die, crimes are committed etc. The job of the police is to restore order and stop crime, they are not doctors or nurses.

i disagree...i think there should be a balance..definitely more effort towards medical aid, but some law enforcement provides a disincentive to steal, which prevents violence and leads to a quicker recovery.
