19 weeks and experienced a gush of fluid today.?

Last night I sneezed and leaked a little fluid, because it was a small amount I assumed that it was just my bladder muscles not being as strong as they were. The same thing happened this morning, just before I was about to have a bath, except this time when I sneezed a gush of water came out. It didn't smell like urine and it didn't have a thick enough consistency to be discharge.

I've just been to see my doctor who has given me a referral to the on call OB at my nearest hospital. I'm just waiting for someone to come and watch Faith, but I have a couple of questions whilst I'm waiting.

*Has this happened to anyone and they have found that it was just a lot of wee?

*What happens if my membranes have ruptured? Is there something they can do to carry on the pregnancy at this early stage?

Update:

Malarkey Joe did you read the question details? I HAVE seen a doctor and now I'm waiting for someone to watch my daughter whilst I see an OB. I wanted informative answers, not repeat suggestions on what I already have the common sense to do.

Update 2:

Thanks for all the responses :).I just got back, they said (this is quite disgusting) that because I've had repetitive constipation that I've damaged my bladder muscles. The baby's heart is beating fine, my amniotic fluid is measuring as normal and they will measure my fluid again at my anomaly scan next week.

The midwife and OB said that my cervix is closed and long, so at the worst I could be losing water from my hind-waters, which they said doesn't carry a high risk of infection like broken membranes.

So thanks again for all the answers with genuine thought and effort behind them. All the prayers and concerns are well appreciated :).

MY FRIEND LOST HER BABY AT 19 WEEKS DUE TO WATERS BREAKING. BUT THE DOCTORS TOLD HER THEY HADN'T GONE AND 3 DAYS LATER BABY DIED FROM BACTERIA.

WORSE CASE SCENARIO IS THEY WILL KEEP YOU IN ON ANTIBIOTICS FOR AS LONG AS POSSIBLE AND DELIVER AT SAFER STAGE .

BEING TRUTHFUL IF IT IS YOUR WATERS I WOULD BE VERY WORRIED.

I AM SURE IT WOULD BE PEE THOUGH AND I WILL BE THINKING OF YOU!

AS SOON AS YOU GET THAT REASSURING NEWS PLS UPDATE US X

I had a miscarriage last fall and cramped A LOT and was bleeding. Are any clots coming out with the fluid? Clots are a sign of m/c. Some woman do get their period still in teh first couple months of pregnancy, so wait and see if this stops. Seeing the heartbeat is a good sign, but m/c can still happen after a heartbeat. I starting bleeding and slight cramping on Mon, saw Heart beat in an u/s on Tuesday...but cramping and bleeding increased all week and i had a full m/c on Friday.

Fingers x'd it's just a leaky bladder hun!

On some other boards I go on to I've read of a few women who've experienced the gush of fluid, and it has turned out to be just wee. I don't know the procedure for what happens if it *is* your waters, I think I've read that it'd be bed rest and on anti-b's, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

    Best of luck xxx

  • Hi there,

This is going to sound really disguising lol, but when I was pregnant with my son if I had a bath instead of a shower sometimes water would go inside the vagina and when I stood up after I had got out or bent down etc it would come out....It could be that..this only happened when I was pregnant...Plus they say after one baby your cervix never fully closes so this could be a possibility :)

Other wise if you dont think it could be this I wish you loads of luck...

    Keep us posted :)

im sorry but, that doesn't sound salvageable if your gonna end up having to deliver.

but they do do amazing things in those NICUs. (ive been there- i know)

best of luck-- i hope its just pee- but i went through the same thing and my son was born 18 hours later...at 32 weeks. and was very premature and had a long hospital stay. :(

19 weeks isnt very promising at all...IM PRAYING FOR YOU!!

since about week 14 ive peed myself almost everytime i sneezed...sometimes it was a big gush and i never assumed it was anything but pee. my bet is that it is pee, good luck, im sure nothing is wrong. sometimes pee dosent necessarily have a strong smell...

Sorry to say, fetus is non-viable at 19 weeks. You are going to have an inevitable abortion, and you will probably need a D&C.

That's the best thing at this point..nothing else can be done.
