Why won't my budgie eat?

I have a 3 month old budgie which i keep in a cage at my house. I let him out twice per day to get some exercise. However recently I ran out of birdseed for him to eat so I replaced it with cat food that I chopped up into extremely small pieces. He won't eat it though! Any suggestions?

Also, I don't have a car to go buy any bird food, so that snot an option.

Update:

*that's not

DAMMIT

Update 2:

Angelo, I clearly said I don't have a car. I can't go buy it.

Birds are allergic to cat food, so that's horrible that you're feeding it that. Try feeding it some human food. My budgie loves to eat bologna, and i also feed it white rice that is doused in mayonnaise and ketchup. Once i ran out of food and had to feed it Pepto Bismol, and it actually got much stronger.

Edit: Mister Big, ignore Skydanze..., as her suggestion will lead to your budgie dying. Bologna is the only true budgie food.

He seems smarter than you! Cat food is for cats and unsuitable for birds. He will like some wild bird seed mix if you have some for the wild birds. Otherwise try some plain raw oats, cornmeal, corn and peas from the can, no sugar or salt added, or thawed from frozen. Never feed processed human food to animals as it has ingredients they don't need. Sure the will eat some but that in no way makes it a good practice.

you don't feed a bird cat food dog food rabbit food or any other stupid thing like that to a budgie you can only feed a budgie budgie seed, seed sticks and a little bit of apple but never feed it cat food.also i'm no being rude but if you don't have a car how did you even get the chance to run out and also a budgie is a big responsiblity so you shouldv'e of planned for something like this.

Skip the cat food. It isn't good for your budgie. There are many different foods your budgie can eat. You can give your budgie cooked pasta, oatmeal, and rice. Your budgie can also eat plenty of fruits and veggies, such as broccoli, spinach, carrots, corn, peas, tomatoes, bananas, apples, cantaloupe, watermelon, pears, peaches, apricots, grapes.

In addition, your budgie can eat dry cereal, like cheerios and corn flakes, which are low in sugar. Hard boiled eggs are a good source of protein. You can also remove the egg shell, crush it up, and feed it to your budgie for calcium.

Don't feed it any apple cores, the pits or seeds of any fruits, rhubarb, avocado, high-salt foods, chocolate, caffeine, or raw potatoes.

Make sure to always have seed on hand for your budgie. Budgies can starve within 24 hours if they don't eat.

Let the budgie out of the cage. That's your first problem. Also, just feed it some Indian food, I had a parrot and I think it might've liked that and since all birds are the same it will cross over.

    Dont feed it cat food.

Try human food like vegetables and fruit and rice.. (:

Im sure you're budgie wont starve to death just make sure you get your bird some food and water no matter if you have bird seed or not. Go and buy some seed asap :)

Yes both can eat a hard boiled egg. The birds can handle the shell still on the egg for the added calcium, I wouldn't really recommend it for the dog though. But the egg will be a great source of protein for both.
