A lot of reg cleaners are rogue programs & give false reading so that you buy the program.

A lot of reg cleaners do a lot of damage.

Use the reg cleaner in free Ccleaner, this is safe & free.

    Edit:

    Why NOT to use wisecleaner:

ccleaner will not get all of your registry errors. It is best used just as a Temp file clean-up. And formatting your computer every 6 months is not much fun. A bit like putting a new engine in your car twice a year instead of just "servicing' it... Yes your Registry needs maintenance. The thing to remember about the registry is that every program has an entry, most have multiple entries. Many have more entries than you could poke a stick at.

Then you need to remember that ANYONE can write software for Windows - doesn't mean they're any GOOD at it. So your registry gets bogged up with a bunch of stuff that the programmers forgot to "remove" when they programmed the uninstall package.

Use a registry cleaner after major software changes and you will see the results. If you've had your current operating system for more than a year and never done this before - you will likely find close to 1000 errors in the registry. Try it - you'll see.

    My current favourite cleaner:

Watch the questions during install, say No to the Disk Cleaner program - unless you care to use it.

Best free registry cleaner I've used since Registry Mechanic was free.

Be sure to use the "Back-up" button before you go digging around your registry ;) And "Select All" before you "Fix". I've never seen this process cause problems in a Windows computer.

It means you have to buy it and they give you a 30 day free trial which you can cancel, if you know the number or know the online cancellation address. when buying any software or service online and it comes with a free trial period make sure you get the cancellation site, phone number, the sales person's employee ID and name and print out everything about the contract, especially the contract you read before hand (you did, didn't you?) and get that transaction number. also, get that service phone number email responses can be slow. Patience on the telephone is a virtue and worth every minute.

Remember. Now they have your credit card information and might abuse it. Therefore, get credit protection and most credit institutions sell it for a monthly fee. Well worth it. Pay with PayPal if you are a member. Its the most secure.

I don't think a registry fix is ever that good and what i do if i feel i need one is to reformat my computer(after making a back up) and then copy over the files that i need.

Its like your computer was right out of the box.
