What kind of garage door opener should I get?

I need a new garage door opener and I am confused. What kind is the best screw, belt or chain? Which kinds needs the least upkeep? What is the best brand to get? Is 1/2 HP enough or should I get 3/4? Any advice you can give me is appreciated.

I suggest a belt drive, as it is the quietest opener. A 3/4 hp motor works the best for very large wood doors. If you have a standard 16 foot door the 1/2 hp is recommended.

I would suggest a 3/4 hp chain drive with all metal parts NO plastic drive components. reseach anything your considering online first. learn from someone elses mistakes.
