Is this the dumbest idea ever or what?

Blatter is supposedly considering removing the offside rule from the game. How awful would this be?

Every team would have a poacher standing by the opposing team's goal all game.

I can see the rule being changed to 1 player can be offside so long as part of his body is onsides at the time of the pass....or 1 player can be up to a yard offside....but that will actually make for a more boring game.

Teams wouldn't try offside traps and would simply keep their defenders back at all times. It would lead to the bus being parked at all times.

Van nistelrooy would be the all time top scorer

The offside rule is there to prevent poachers and give everyone a chance, im sure the other members of fifa will disagree with the decision though.

The incorrect offisde decisions is part of the game, always has been its one of the things that makes is interesting and unique, although its stessful and makes things hard at times its a big part in the game

Blatter better not even dare. The game is beautiful the way it is, and should remain as it is. The off side rule is not a problem, or even an impediment, for the game. It's the players, some of them at least, that should definitely change their whiny attitude and keep playing, as well as respect the ref's decisions, even if they (refs) are not always right. Eliminating the off side rule would only weaken the attentiveness and skill of the players to avoid that rule.

It's an interesting thing to think about. I think the rules as they are now would be the way to go but things would definitely change if the offside rule was removed. Backs would have to stay back and mark anyone camping and there would definitely be more 1-on-1's with the keeper

Off-sides are there for a reason. Granted if they are removed games could be more entertaining to some people but not in my opinion.

    1-records will mean nothing anymore.

2-A strikers true ability will not make much difference than a dumb-*** who always scores off side goals.

3-Defenders will not attack anymore resulting in a boring stiff defense.

4-Removing offside could very well dull the great game as we know it.

Personally I like that he's considering a change. There are too many incorrect offside decisions every game, it gets irksome. The offside rule is far too strangling to the flow of the game.Too stringent. I would say don't scrap it all together but to instruct the linesmen to let the close ones go, i.e invoke the 'daylight rule' and make sure they do.

DUMB!! Just like cherry-picking in basketball and lacrosse, which by the aren't really sports. Football is about tactics and teamwork, Zlatan Ibrahimovic for FC Barcelona standing in front of the goalkeeper the whole time would ruin the values of the game.
