5 to 8 pounds is doable in one month, however it is a very lofty goal. Many people find that weight comes off easily in the beginning of a diet and exercise regimen and then levels off. If you are just beginning, you are going to shed some water weight along with some excess weight pretty quickly. However that weight is easy to put back on if you do not continue exercising.
Weight loss is created by a calorie deficit - burning more calories per day than you consume. Consider this: one pound is equivalent to 3500 calories. That means to lose one pound per week you have to average a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day, 7 days a week. That would get you to approximately 4.5 pounds lost in one month. Sustaining that is a challenge but is doable. Some people find that it is easier to burn 700 calories 5 times a day and to net even the remaining two days. Find what works for you and stick to it.

Well, considering you are at a pretty nice weight already considering your height, I would say the only thing to do is really watch what you eat, have a balanced diet, and exercise well (meaning baby steps, not a 10 mile run on the first day). Basically, look up good, healthy diets and follow those. You can look up the FDA recommendations for a healthy diet and every thing you need for it. This can be a major starting place. You will want to do this all naturally (without pills) for you to be able to keep it off and not yo-yo.

it's pretty simple. just make sure to eat NO junk food whatsoever, eat only fruits and vegetables. you can have a little bit of meat. also drink lots of proteins and water!! they key to losing weight is to watch your carbs. it is really as simple as that. eat under 50-60 carbs a day, and results will start showing pretty dang quick. also, when you're tempted to gorge something high in fat, sip on water and proteins or grab a bag of carrots to munch on. also, what i do is take a picture of the person i want to look like and the body i want and stare at it. this instantly makes me want to put away all the sugary foods. i have these pictures mounted all over my wall in my bedroom which makes the process a lot simpler :) you might want to look into energy pills when you lack your carbs, though, because without carbs it seriously wears ya out. you can get REALLY tired.
also, to lose weight quicker, exercise!! :) it releases the hormones that make you REALLY happy and pumped up :) plus it makes you way stronger, which is definitely a plus!! it's better to look like a thin person that's in shape compared to a thin person that just looks like a boring old stick.

well to lose that in a month you need to eat less eat small servings.. yes your going to feel like your hungry but try to keep yourself occupied. and do sit ups or crunches 25 a day but if you want more do more and hopefully you will break a sweat... dont run or do weights you will gain muscle which is more weight.. just remember eat less and sit ups or crunches you could lose 3 pounds a week just by doing that.. hope it helps = )
