What's your opinion on Existentialism and Nietzsche?
Christian, Atheist, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, doesn't matter I want an opinion.
Just to see where people stand.
I find it very relevant to Regional and not philosophy.
As most people who are Existentialists are Atheist.
All Nietzsche nihilism doesn't mean nihilism that so you should give up, it means nothing matters so you should do something to make it matter.
I'm sorry Religion not regional, silly spelling errors.

Existentialism starts from a false understanding of the nature of consciousness, derived from the phenomenology of Edmund Husserl (with some changes). It only gets more nonsensical from there. Nietzsche is better than most, but still misses a lot of empirical ideas for the sake of making his arguments.

They don't have anything to do with each other (other than the fact that people think Nietzsche was a precursor to existentialism). I like existentialism because it's a very honest humanistic philosophy; I don't like Nietzsche. All his ideas about slave and ruler mentalities is a little too much to handle.

Existentialism? meh. Nietzsche, in my view, didn't really believe what he wrote. If he did, he would have remained silent knowing there was no one to hear. And of course his ubermensch was based on a false understanding of evolution. But the man could write, there's no doubt about that. Indeed, I wonder if half his influence isn't the product of literary genius rather than clear thinking.

I'm not a big fan of Existentialism - it only speaks to part of the issue ( the person) and ignores the surrounding environment.
I like Nietzsche, with reservations. He was limited by the Germanic black-and white view of the world, but his statement, "That which does not destroy me, makes me stronger." was poetry.

It's some of the stupidest **** I've ever read. Rich white dudes whining about how pathetic their over privileged lives are and giving arguments that a four year old could dismantle while rambling on and on and on. Reading Nietzsche is a lot like talking to a not overly bright person tripping on acid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ytJRnqee1M Come on, wouldn't the whole 'my dog-I have given a name to my pain and call it 'dog'' metaphor which takes up an entire ******* aphorism (#312) fit perfectly in this video?

I don't personally share those philosophies, but I can see where they are coming from.
