My friend has a 2000 ford f 150 and is having problems starting it.?

Sometimes the truck will start up with no problem, other times it won't start at all. She has changed the starter, the cylinoid and the battery. The alternator has been checked and is good. Also it's a manual engine, I'm not sure if that matters. Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

She said it just clicks, it doesn't go rurrrr rurrrr.

Update 2:

How would we check the ignition sensor?

The alternator wouldn't have been the problem, I promise. It isn't part of the starting system, you could take it out and run the car for maybe 10 minutes until your battery dies. The starting system consists of the Battery sending voltage to the Starter and creating a rotating force to get the flywheel going. If both of these are good, then it's the connections. They're probably corroding in a not-so visible spot. Any exposed wire is a problem.

Ok I guess you mean that sometimes it cranks and starts, and other times it won't crank(rurr rurr rurr rurr)at all.I'd have someone check the ignition switch and the safety switch on the clutch(not sure if it has one but probably). The safety switch prevents you from cranking until you have the clutch pushed in so the truck doesn't lurch when you crank the engine.

If it doesn't have the safety switch, it may be the ignition. If you know anyone that is handy with things, they can probably run a hot wire from the positive side of the battery to the trigger side of the solenoid. If it cranks every single time by doing this, you know the starter, solenoid, and wiring on that end are in good shape, and you can look to the switch inside.

    Won't start or Won' crank?

You change starters solinoids and batterys when it won't crank

Won't start means the starter turns the engine over but the engine won't run on its own.

    Can you ask again?

    Wont start or won't crank?

i am pretty sure it's either a plugged fuel filter, or your fuel pump is shot.
