Triple washed produce-Why bother?
The spinach and lettuce I buy says "triple washed" on the packaging, and right below that it says "rinse before using". If they tried three times to get something off, what am I going to accomplish by rinsing it one more time? Couldn't they have just washed it ONE more measly time?

To fully get rid of any remaining grit, dirt &/or sand; not to mention any kind of bacteria. You can never be too careful.

You're better off washing off the spinach and lettuce. There is baterica on the spinach and lettuce.
According to
http://childparenting.about.com/b/2010/03/01/wash-... says
The level of bacteria varied from bag to bag, even within the same brands; the brands tested were major labels such as Dole, Earthbound Farm Organic, and Fresh Express, as well as local and store brands. There was also no difference found in bacteria levels between organic and conventional salads.
So you're better off washing the spinach and lettuce and reduce food illness.
