Crown molding separating from ceiling?
I just bought an older home (1966) and there are cracks where the crown molding meets the ceiling. What can i do to fix this before painting? Wood putty? Caulk?

Apparently, caulk is the way to go, but you have to be careful of the type. Some are less flexible than others or have a larger shrinkage factor. Here's a link with some info;

For our house, the builders painted the walls a cafe color and the trim dark chocolate brown. The spaces were not even noticeable until we painted everything white!!
So, paint the walls a dark tomato red and the crown all black, LOL!

You have two choices, the first is to try to do it your self and probably waste a lot of time and money, the second is to hire a finish carpenter and let him/her do the job and show you how at the same time. By the way if you start with the second choice it will look a lot better and be very very much less expensive.

If the gaps are 1/2" or less, use a paintable, flexible caulk to fill the gaps before painting. Dap is a good brand.
