Is it within my power to demand an apology from my mom?
My mom told me to shut up because i told her that she had no grounds to say i couldn't borrow the car and she didn't want to talk about it so she told me to shut up (not in a joking way but legit pissed) and i said i wouldn't stop until she said sorry for telling me to shut up and just asked to talk about it later, so she just kept saying shut up, then my aunt chimed in and told me to shut up and i said i'd treat them as equals and not adults if they didn't ask me politely. I'm 16 years old.

shut up. You live under your parents roof and are n ot of age and did not handle this properly by yapping off.

you are seriously overreacting. you should really grow up & learn to act your age, not like a bratty little 6 year old.
if she didn't let you borrow the car, there's probably a good reason behind it.
telling someone to shut up never hurt anyone so let it go. it's not like she insulted you in any way or hit you etc.
your mother is your mother & until you are of age & living on your own, you have no right to tell her what she can & can't do. it's her house & you're under her roof, you're on her territory, you'd better get used to it. although telling you to shut up is NOT the mature way to go, she's still your mother. & if she didn't wanna talk about, there's probably a good reason for that too.
life isn't fair & you're not always gonna get what you want. get used to it. seriously.

I think that your mother probably owns the car, pays the insurance and puts gas in it. That makes it her car and she i in no way obligated to give you the use of it. Sounds like you heard the word no and kept yammering at her about it. She doesn't owe you anything but enough food to keep you healthy and a roof over your head. You owe her the apology. Until you are paying your own bills and living under your own roof you are not equal, you are her child and you sure sound like one to me.

You're mom sounds pissed off. Just drop it. Did getting told to shut up ever hurt? I can see you're frustrated cause my mom sometimes is weird too, but demanding an apology is riddiculous. You're mom will laugh at you. I'd say to just drop the matter because all your mom is going to do is going to say, "Look at her, thinking she owns the world."
